Can anyone tell me the diffence between getting a stainless steel cutter and a titanium cutter? Thanks.

Stainless steel cutters are generally made from stainless steel. Titanium cutters usually are made from titanium.

And needless to say a different price range on each!!!!

I've never held one but I would guess the Titanium is much lighter than the steal.

According to Vijay and Annika, Titanium is always 15 - 20 yds longer than steel.

I've had all perfect cuts so far with CBid's "Stackhouse" stainless double G. My local Tobaconist uses one as their house cutter. Pretty cheap here, got mine for $5. Blades are a slightly loose in their channels but that doesn't seem to effect the cut.

I just got one of the Xikar MTXs and I'm not too pleased with it, seems challenging to get a good cut, and it's too damn small. I'll stick with my regular Xikars for now...

I would "think" that you could put a finer edge on stainless and that it would hold it's edge longer. Titanium is used to make fighter jets and golf clubs because it's light and strong. You don't see titanium cutlery... Stainless seems like it would be a better choice, but there's not too much scientific about my opinion.

I measured my "Stackhouse" double g. My tape measure goes down to 32nds. I got between 28 and 29/32nds. That puts it around a 57 which means it should cut anything up to a 60 (if you're not cutting the entire cap off).

I have a Wenger Swiss Army knife with the Cigar Scissors built in. Best cut ever.

So I haven't been looking for a cutter in quite some time. I just assumed the Titanium cutters had a titanium case, not the blade itself. Was I wrong?

I bought the Luxury Wenger Swiss Army cutter based on recs. here. To be honest I haven't used it yet. This particular one is pretty bulky for a pocket knife. It looks to have an opening of about 52 whick means it should be able to cut a 56 or so (leaving a little bit o' cap). The golf version is probably smaller.
