These things are going for $66.00 for a 3-pack, here on Cbid. Are they really that great? Someone give me a description of this cigar and expalin it's $22.00/stick taste. Why is this pre-embargo stick going for so much more than other pre-embargo cigars (specifically the Pinar Series B)?

I'll give you my last review. I bought a double-corona at the shop for a special occasion. The roll was looser than I thought it would be, but well constructed. When I first fired it up, it was very clear to me that I had never smoked a cigar like this before. Very bold taste that I liked, but very bold indeed. The cigar kept going out if I didn't keep a constant watch on it, which was a bit annoying.

Finally, still being somewhat of a newbie to cigars, it kicked my freakin a$$. I actually had to go lie down and sweat that one out. Never had that happen before. (Wife had a good laugh) Probably from puffin so much to keep it lit. Summary, I'd do it again.. only slower.

Price is too subjective to say whether it would be worth it. I'll let the "seasoned" folks here takle that.

I've had the Pinar B,Pinar Habanitos, and the Gurhka pre-embargo. All were mild to medium fairly decent cigars. However not worth,even near the price they're getting. Most cigar smokers here will tell you they would rather have a box of good cigars for price they're getting for three cigars,JMO. X

The novelty of having 'pre-embargo' Cuban tobacco ... and the retail on them is usually around $30 a stick.

That tobacco is too old ... and it's just not going to be as good as Cuban leaves that have only three to four years age on them.

BTW ... the Pinar Series B has only 50% of that 'pre-embargo' tobacco ...

I have them - have about 10 left ... smoked two - on two different occasions ... VERY bitter - dry - peppery - little tone of spice ...

- but don't even compare to one out of a roll of Perdomo ... (my favorite)

I agree with Slim too, I've had a few, and spent $26/, good tasting smoke, but I think the idea of smoking such an old cigar of Cuban leaves is what drew me to spend the dollars on this one. It doesn't knock your socks off, but I like it for special occasions, IMHO.

Thanks again for the great info guys. I was curious if these were worth the $ for a isom taste. I've been here buying 5's and samplers for a while now, and think I've found a few premium keepers. So, I guess it's time to go box hunting for my favorites (so far), instead of spending on the pre-embargos (especially when I've got some real isom sticks coming, new ones, sort of, at least not 45 years old, maybe 3-5).
