I'm leaving for St Croix on Saturday. Just wondering if anybody had tips for how to get stuff back, and what the prices are like on the island. I figure it would be easiest to remove the bands and just ship them back to my home.

I'm assuming you can get Cubans there, but not even sure since it is a US Virgin Island.

I don't know but I plan on going to St. Thomas this summer. Being a US VI, I'm not sure if they sell cubans there??? Hope so...

Yes to St Croix as far as selling them, no to St Thomas as far as selling them. Hell, you can buy all the slaves you want in Southern California.

I think that if you need a slave (or two), how about the Olsen twins? White slavery, two for one type of deal... what could be wrong?

The Olson twins are probably a bit out of my price range, and high maintenance ... but I could put the choke chain on and teach them some respect.

Make sure you buy them from La Casa Del Habanos, if they have one otherwise they are sure to be fakes. I would bring labels with you and switch the Habanos label and put them in your bag.

Good idea to bring labels. I brought some back from the BVIs. I would've thought that all USVIs would not sell them but I didn't check when I was in St. Thomas. Never was in St. Croix. Bring a traveldor if your planning on buying some early on. It's gonna be pretty hot there.

A friend of mine knows a customs agent and called him to see what happens when people bring back ISOMs from various trips (we happened to be returning from the Middle East). The agent said that normally they won't check, but if they do, they tend to cease all cigars because the average customs agent can't tell the difference between ISOM and other. They don't go by labels because too many people switch them. He also said that (for the most part), they just seize the cigars (probably for personal consumption to verify that they were indeed ISOMs) and don't fine people. The fines can be pretty stiff, so I'd definitely plead ignorance if they do happen to find some.
Personally, I bought a cabinet selection of Hondurans, claimed them (as Honduran cigars), kept them in my carry-on and hid the others in a traveldor in the bottom of my suitcase. The customs agent said, Honduran cigars, huh? I said yep. He said ok, welcome home! Just my experience...

Ok, I'll drop the Olson twins thing for a minute and on a serious note, I too have brought cigars to the US from both France and Germany. Did a similar thing to that of ksinger. Filled my traveldor with Partagas tubos, stuffed it in the suitcase and claimed the $50 box of whatever-they-were smokes, my two bottles of wine, etc.
No other questions asked.

My last foray into smuggling tip #25:
Buy your ISOM's. Buy some cheapies (non ISOM's)that are the same ring gauge. Swap bands. Put the ISOM bands in your luggage somewhere safe. Declare the cigars. If they try and snag the cigars, ask to see a supervisor. It's too much of a pain for customs to mess with a few measly cigars.
Otheriwse...don't decalre them. Put them in your suitcase. If they look and see them, claim stupidity and fill out a declaration at the counter.
