This is a picture of me in Philadelphia. In the background you can see both Pat's and Geno's cheesesteaks. (I ate at Geno's and boy was it good!) I'd never had a genuine cheesesteak before. I made the mistake of calling it a "steak and cheese" and I was informed I could be beaten up calling it that. So I practiced before ordering and I said: "Two cheesesteaks extra onions and 2 birch beers". My friend JP who was with me, a Philly native, said I sounded like a pro. :)

Pat's and Gino's are both overrated, Tony Luc's on Oregon Avenue is the best, their chicken cutlet sandwich with broccali rabe and provalone is the best!
You have to floss good after Pats/Gino's to get the excess grizzle out of your teeth.

No one goes to Philly for a chicken sandwich.

mmmmmmmmm birch beer. I love that stuff. Every time I go up to PA, I buy a couple cases to bring home to VA.

Genos easily makes the best cheesesteaks in the Deleware Valley. Just go there, ask for a Wiz With, and you will see for yourself.

God I miss that place. I wanna move back home!

Philly is the place for cheese steaks!! I miss a really good cheese steak!

Birch beer is also very good, another thing I miss from PA.

Hey Eleltea,
Go to Oregon Ave at 3am after any event and check out the line outside Tony Luc's.

Greg...if you like cheesesteaks, and like hot wings...get a buffalo chicken cheesesteak next time you're at one of the Jersey shores. It's what they're known for.

Picture this: chicken cheesesteak cooked in hot wing sauce with some American cheese mixed in. Place that on a roll covered in blue cheese and you found the best of both worlds.

Should have gone to Pat's 🙂 Geno's just spent a gazillion dollars on more neon signs. BTW it's not a "Philly Cheesesteak", It's a "Cheez Wit" or a "Cheez witout" depending on whether you want fried onions. Tony Luc's has a new owner as of last year but the Broccoli Rabe is still good. The best sandwich in all of Philadelphia is a Primo's Old Italian at 15th and Ritner St. Either way, come to South Philadelphia and leave fat and happy!

You know, the original plan was to go to Tony Luc's but they were closed! It was a state holiday or something (this was on a Monday last month). I'd heard good things about Tony's. As far as that whole "cheese wit/witout" thing: fuggeddabowdit!

It was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the two places we wanted to go were closed (what's up with that). But, we forgot about that after some Black & Tans and Half & Halfs at Fado's Irish Pub.

Then, of course, we made our way to Pat's and Geno's. After a 3 man taste test...it's been declared unanimous that Geno's is the place to be.
