This is Bob, my 6 year old giant green iguana. She surprised us this weekend by laying 41 eggs. There's no male in her life so the eggs are not going to hatch.

... find her a date quick ... do you have any idea how much those eggs would be worth if they'd hatch?

... then again ... maybe she's like my wife ... and prefers to reproduce asexually ....

we named her Bob before we knew what sex she was. I've known for a couple years now that Bob was a female but since she doesn't seem to mind I didn't see any point in changing the name. I guess if we ever get a male we'll have to name him Sue and everything will be OK.

Oh and by the way I understand they taste like chicken

I adopted one after my kids got tired of it. Also female. It amazed me the volume of eggs that they lay in relation to their body size.

Bud, you have a female iguana?! I have an ornery 3yr old male that gets pretty randy during breeding season. We should hook them up together so they can make beautiful music (although I've never heard a peep out of my guy). Then we post iguana babies on the trade board for cigars. We'll clean up..Bwahhaahh!

Unfortunately mine passed away. She fell victim to my wife's Cockateels(sp). The damn birds kept crapping in her habitat and I believe that is what killed her. The thing was about 4 feet long and did some cool tricks, plus scared the heck out of my Mother in Law - LOL.
The Cockateels tasted like chicken. Stuff the breast with fresh jalapeno and wrap with bacon, then BBQ.
Just kidding you bird lovers.

We've had Bob since she was just a little thing about 8 inches long. Now she's a little over 4 feet long. She has a fairly decent disposition but not really socialized. I'm the only one that handles her. She doesn't like being picked up but usually calms down after a minute or two. It's been a few days now since she laid the eggs. She seems to be back to her normal self.
