Since I am new here to cbid I was wondering if when you bid and win in the boxes category do you actually recieve the box too or are the cigars just wrapped in a bundle?

Next question...has anyone tried a bourbon seasoned cigar? I am a huge fan of Makers Mark Kentucky Bourbon and they have seasoned cigars and I was wondering what anyone had to say about them

Yes, you do get the box, sealed I might add.
To each his own re the flavored cigars. I'm too much of a purist to smoke them. Good luck and good smokin'~

If the cigars say they are 'boxes' ... they will come in the box. Bundles are just that ... and it will ususally tell you that in the description.

I don't like 'flavored' cigars ... so I'm not going to be much help there ... but I'm sure those that do ... will chime in soon enough.

Note of varience: My latest box purchase was for the Perdomo2 maduro Rhombus, this did not come in a box but in a Perdomo cardboard "bundle".
That may be the way Perdomo is sending them out.
Otherwise, you get the box.

I can fully understand the 'purist' ideas on adding flavor to the cigar that just isn't natural...then again it almost brings the best of both worlds in a smoke...I'm sure I will get brave sooner or later...I just needed motivation.

It's a matter of taste. I haven't had a flavored cigar that tasted good.

Flavored cigars are not my cup o tea but there is a guy here at work who loves em. Says he puts a dish of Remi Martin XO in one of his humidors. His Brother in law says he is crazy for wasting good booze. I say he is crazy for wasting good cigars.

I have smoked and actually like the St.Charles made by Torano. I think they are treated with Brandy or at least have a Brandy flavor. Its cheap too. And they come in a box. Bad Frogs, however, come in small cardboard cartons that are wrapped in plastic. Be afraid! Very Afraid!

There's an idea I never thought of...it would have to be an expirement...but I wonder how it would turn out if you put a small cup of a liqour in the humidor...you really think it would absorb the taste???

Like the other guy said...it could be a terrible waste of good booze or a waste of good cigars!

I've had some La Diva cigars that are pretty good. They are infused with some kind of Cognac or something. It's subtle, they're mild smokes, very nice when you're not looking for a full body smoke.

It will absorb the flavor no doubt about it. I wouldnt commit my nice humidor to it though. It's going to be a permenant smell that will continue to infect any cigar you put in it.

Better plan.

Take one of your old cigar boxes that has a tight seal. put the gars and the booze in it, then put that in an old (clean) cooler. Wait a few weeks and presto, chango! Flavored cigars

Always get the box, if the cigars come in a box. Have tried numerous cigars that are flavored, antything from honey to bourbon. Just can't cultivate a taste for them. My guess is that the Maker's Mark cigars are made with premium tobaccos but why in the world you would want to adulterate the taste is beyond me. I believe that if I were going to smoke flavored cigars i would probably find the cheapest brand that I could. The flavor would probably compensate for really poor tobacco. I, fortunately, have been one of those who have avoided ever purchasing Bad Frog cigars, and feel like I have reached some kind of exclusive plateau by not doing so. Just my opinion. To each his own. One man's pleasure is another man's poison, etc.

Nah. I did once take some cheap and very mild cigars I bought and put them in a box of loose Acid (Cold infusion tea) leaves to see what would happen. After a month, they smelled just like the Acids. Took them to some friends who like flavored smokes to mixed reviews. They thought the flavoring wasn't strong enough. (Smelled strong enough to me!) I have had a few more in the box for about 5 months now to see how strong they will get.

Jstue,I like Makers Mark also but I didn't like the MM cigar. My advice is to try one see for yourself. X

My view on this was to take an excellent cigar - and while you're enjoying the hell out of it - pair that experience with an excellent libation - now you are experiencing the good life.

They aren't mixing (wasting) the premium liquors when they are producing "flavored" cigars.

Life is too short to smoke bad cigars or drink poor liquor.

Having never found a flavored cigar I cared much for, I thought perhaps it was because they were crappy cigars, not because they were flavored ... I found a couple of "flavoring jars" and followed the instructions to flavor my own ... can't say that I ever tried the Makers Mark, although I too like that a great deal, but I didn't skimp on quality ... tried using good cigars and quality bourbon, scotch, rum and cognac .... NONE turned out to my satisfaction and the bottom line for me was that I screwed up a couple of boxes of good cigars ....

Your experience might vary ... after all, different strokes for different folks as they say, but I find the best method to enjoy bourbon and a cigar at the same time is to light a good cigar and pour the bourbon in a glass ... then, sip the bourbon and puff on the cigar ...

Normally I detest flavored cigars. The MM on the other hand was really pretty good IMO. I little on the mild side for me, but the biggest drawback is the price. Man, these suckers ain't cheap.

I guess I am just spoiled to CBid prices. If I have a choice between one cigar and a quality bundle at about the same price, well to me it's a no brainer. Of course, I AM a cheap b@stard! LOL

I can help both. First with the flavoring. I would suggest you get a cheap plastic tupperware and put a shot of you drink of choice( not touching the cigar) and seal the box up for 2 weeks in an dark place. I have had tried the Maker Mark and they are over priced and bad quality. I smoke 2 last week and they both were really dry and were running hot. Stay away from these and spend your 8 dollars better.
