I picked up a Romeo y Julieta reserve maduro robusto today while I was picking up some sticks to send out for the birthday club. I haven't heard anything about them, but it called my name so I brought it home.

I find the regular RyJs to be a bit on the mild/plain side for me, this seemed like it would have more to it. It smells nice, almost like raisins, kinda reminded me of an O maddie.

Has anyone tried these? If so, what did you think?

I like a RyJ on occasion. The maddies were a disappointment. I was expecting something stronger. It's a good smoke, but if it's got maddie in it's nameplate, then I expect the "bite" to be there. You'll enjoy it, but for the price...there's too many other righteous maddies.

medium body, and very nice flavor IMO. I likes um.

i was not impressed. had one of their new CT shade wrapped reserva real and liked it better.

I was definitely disappointed. I expected a fuller flavor and was surprised how mild and soft the cigar was. I will not be smoking any more of these.

Doh!, I may have confused it with "their new CT shade wrapped reserva real and liked it better." sorry, is that the one with the pretty silver and black label? That's the one I was talking about.

The Havana RyJ's are very flavorable. Dominican are too mild for my taste.

I tried the RyJ with the pretty black and silver bands last night at the local smoke shop. The prop says he sells a ton of them. It was a good cigar with a nice flavor profile. It was on the mild side of medium bodied. Will I buy more? Probably not, but that's just my taste. Try it, you may like it.

Ditto on most above. I feel there is a time and place that accentuates an individual cigar's properties. These are a mild/med so I would not select it for an evening smoke or night out. The line tends to sell well and cost to quality is questionable to me. You more probably see me smoking RyJ Anniversery if the price is right.

Echo LLT; just not to my taste; the Dominican version is just too mild but might be OK for many people who are not ready for the full-bodied sticks. Agree with smithbw; the Havana RyJ especially the No.2s and 3s are absolutely incredible (but only if you watch the box codes).

I enjoy full bodied cigars the more spice and pepper the better, but I enjoy a RyJ Reserve Maduro as a morning cigar because it doesn't distract from a good cup of espresso. JonR

Thanks for your feedback guys. OK, I smoked the RyJ this afternoon and I figured I'd let you know what I thought.

I have to agree with most of the comments above - it was a well made, but rather mild. I had expected more from it as well, at least until I read these comments. Considering the price, I won't be rushing to get more.

And yes, this is the one with the black and silver band.

I'm on the porch now with an Opus X double corona. I like FULL BODY cigars. I have a wide assortment of full body cigars. But I like medium and milder too if they have spice and flavor. These RJs are good gars for just that reason. Variety is the spice of life!
