Never saw a Whale Shark but snorkeling in Puerto Vallarta, I saw 2 Manta Rays, both with at least 15' wingspans. The closest one swam right by me its wingtip about 3 feet away. I was talking to my uncle and when I put my head back in the water... bam! There they were. I know they're mellow but they still startled the $*#t out of me. I then gave chase but to no avail. Amazing!

We see Whale Shark sometimes here in the Gulf off Texas. They are something to behold in the wild.
