I just received my most recent shipment and needless to say, I was mortified and stupified. Contents: 1 CAO Crown Jewel Sampler (pack of 😎 and 1 Torano Truckload (box of 😎. The CAO sampler was in a ziplock CAO bag and the Torano sampler was in a CI cardboard box. Both of these samplers were shipped in a Fed-Ex Pak (bag). Inside the bag, I found my cigar samplers stacked on top of each other, surrounded by ONE packing peanut. Surprisingly enough, the zip lock bag, the Fed Ex pak and the ONE packing peanut didn’t provide the protection these cigars needed during shipping and a handful of them were damaged (4 out of the 8 CAOs - and of course it would be the CAO Blacks and the Brazilias that were damaged!). The torano box was partially crushed, but luckily the cigars inside were in good condition. Tough cigars....

I’ve never had any problems with any of my orders. I’m just a little upset because this could’ve been avoided if the shipment was packaged correctly (more than ONE packing peanut). For a company that ships thousands of cigars a week, I honestly can’t believe this shipment got sent out like this. I've contacted customer service through this website, so hopefully this gets cleared up.

I was just wondering if any of you have had any packaging blunders like this. Maybe someone else got my packing peanuts - The ONE I got was really lonely.

=( And NO matches!!! Double Whammy!!

Although my experience isn't as long as others, I've been extrememly impressed w/ CBid and can assure you they'll take care of you. I recieved a recent shipment of 10 and 3 gars had very small cracks in them. I don't think this had anything to do with packaging (I might have received your share of peanuts by mistake..), but I called them up and they had a replacement to me in 2 days!

Steve - great guy.
CBid - great place. Period.

That was fast. I think I hit 'send' on my email and Steve from CBid was already calling me.....

BTW - My post wasn't intended to b!tch about Cbid. I had already lodged my complaint/inquiry with CBid before this post was made. I realize that I came off as a complainer, but I just found it strange/shocking to find my cigars shipped in such a careless manner, and I was curious to see if others have had any similar instances. I think Steve was a little shocked himself after I told him that the package I received was basically a heavy duty Fed-Ex plastic bag, not a box filled with cigars and peanuts. He was great on the phone and cleared up the issue instantly. I had nothing to say, but 'thank you'. Although, he did promise me more than one packing peanut with my replacement shipment!

Mental note: Calling customer service for complaints.....really good. Posting sob stories on the forum......bad.

LOL @ Steve and Rocco.

Why am I so unfortunate to never have had a bad shipment. I've gotten boxes from "other suppliers" that arrived damaged. Can I complain about them here? Maybe CBid will ship me replacements for what they sent me.

Good job CBid/CI staff.

Homebrew,
Send me some of those peanuts.
But be certain to protect them with plenty of premium cigars in the middle. I wouldn't want the peanuts to get ruined....

Update: Replacement package set to arrive tomorrow. Well done, CBid!! I should've never posted a damn thing.....

Quick conspiracy theory as to what happened (with info from Trish @ Cbid):

CBid sends out my package - package gets damaged in transit - UPS RE-packages my cigars (in a Next Day Air envelope w/ one lone nut) and sends it along to me

To any other newbies out there that get a busted package - just call and Cbid will make it better, even if it wasn't their fault.

Funjohnny

P.S. - I'll post a peanut count tomorrow upon delivery. Anything less than 2, and I'm calling you Steve!!! 🙂

This is just one more illustration of what I KNOW is going on. Someone, or some organization, is very quietly buying up all the packing peanuts in this country. I don't know for what purpose, yet, but if we don't open our eyes to this, we are suddenly going to find all of our shipments smushed! (Personally I think it's the anti-tobacco, anti-cigar forces.)

Update: (I know you all have been anxiously awaiting this)

Steve - you will NOT be getting a call from me today....

Total Peanut count: 134!!!! Yes, that's right folks - 16.75 peanuts per cigar. WooHoo! 🙂

Inside - my lovely CAO sampler, in perfect condition. All is right in my world.

This customer service success story has been brought to you by Funjohnny19 and the fine people at CBid. Here's to CBid, for making my day, and hopefully everyone else's day, just a little bit brighter. (except for digisle, I don't think that guy will ever be happy)

Funjohnny out
