I've read around that it is good to let Opus Xs sleep. Just picked up my first few, all power rangers, and was wondering how long they'll need to sleep until they'll be ready, thanks for the imput from the experienced opus smokers. Thanks.

They are so hard to come by here I never had a chance to let one rest.Ive had two so far and they were fantastic but not rested .If you know where I can get some at a good price let me know?

They're good out of the box, but like all cigars the longer you let it "sleep", the more it will marry and mature.

Case in point, I bought some Andy Warhol's from CBid as a poker night giveaway smoke 2 years ago. I buried 6 of them and found them about 3 months ago. I fired it up, I mean there were some plug issues, but the taste wasn't THAT bad, the cigar had changed. It was like Houdini performing a trick. I'm by no means saying that this was better than any Monte # 2, or OpusX(which I believe is overated!)but the properties of a cigar will mature with time.

I purchased a couple a few months back and I immediately smoked one. If it was a $5 cigar I would have thrown it out, however because of the price I continued to smoke it but did not enjoy it.

I let the second sit for about three months, based on suggestions from the board members, and it was a much better smoke.

I'm not sure of the optimum aging time, but I'd definately give it a few months.

It has almost befuddled me how the Fuentes have managed to market a high end cigar, priced higher than many Cubans, that needs considerable aging. Frankly, I've had far better success with Ashton VSGs. As a rule, you can find them available on-line, and they are ready to smoke within a couple of days off the truck.
