Today, I had the pleasure, ney, the privilege, to indulge in my very first Habana.
Today was Godfather's birthday, and in celebration, we finally lit up the ones we've been stashing for a good two months now.
As you might've read in one of my previous posts, the cigars in question were two Cohiba Siglo III, a corona-sized Cuban with a beautiful natural wrapper and an aroma that made you think you'd died and gone to Heaven...and that Fidel was running the place!
I was so anxious to experience that first glorious Cuban, the cigars that carry a mystique like now other tobacco can or ever will.
Godfather and I both decided on a straight guillotine cut. My cut right through just fine, nice and smooth. Then we fired it up, and I knew it was something unique once that first waft of smoke sailed over my tongue. I never knew what full-bodied meant until now, because this smoke packed one serious punch!
I was afraid at first of a tight draw, which seems to be something Cohibas are prone to (from what I've heard on the forum, anyhow), but that fear dissipated quickly, as more and more of that beautiful, creamy smoke poured onto my taste buds. It was that perfect mixture of heavy flavor and smooth finish, with no harshness or unpleasantness whatsoever.
My only regret over it is that it ended...but I guess no good thing can last forever. The only thing approaching a problem was that it developed a bit of an uneven burn, which I gratefully managed to fix quickly.
These Cohibas were so good, and we smoked them down so far, that me and Godfather both got a pair of needle-nose pliers for roach clips so we could keep smoking it!
I wanted to cry when I finally had to extinguish it.
Whenever I heard people talk about Cubans, I never believed they could be THAT good...but now I know better.
