Man, I'd have never thought that there would be a difference.
I had a real nice punch that a friend had brought back from Italy, but it disappeared. 😞
So I bought an inexpensive bullet punches. YUK! (They may not all be like the one I got, but this one is useless).

It tears the ends, so I end up with my trusty old guillotine [spelling?].
I did find some real nice custom wood punches with intricate inlay.

I have been using a punch for years. It is am Avo Uvezian. Twist it and the very sharp blade extends and after you punch, twist it back retracting the blade and expelling the plug. It's a bad boy. MSRP about $60

Yup. Carry it most of the time. Very heavy, substantial lighter. Twin flame does a great job of lighting the cigar. CAUTION: the cutter that flips down is RAZOR-SHARP! Got a partially healed cut on my thumb right now where it got flipped open in my pocket without me being aware of it. BTW, holds a good supply of fuel, too. Think you would really enjoy it.

I have been looking through a bunch of places and it never dawned on me that the manufacturers would have punches available. I'll have to keep my eye out on cbid for one. 😉

The one I had really wasn't that expensive, just nice quality and it bums me that it disappeared. Especially since I am not sure what is quality, but I found out that you get what you pay for when it comes to punches. 🙂

I bought 5 of them figuring when one got dull I would just chuck it, no big deal. That was 2 1/2 years ago and I'm still using the 1st one.

V-Cutter --- the best of both worlds.

Still leaves the cap intact for a better mouth-feel, and opens it up more than punch cutters do, for a cooler smoke ...

The very same except for the wood used - mine is Teak - this lot doesn't say what it is --- but it's listed as a hardwood which would also serve you well for a long time.

I have one also, per Slim's reco. Feels a little different in the mouth but gives a good draw. Good for cutting box pressed gars.

I have seen some rosewood ones and mahagony ones listed on the internet of the same name.
It looks like I will take your advice and see about getting one. I'll wait a bit and see what comes up on Cbid. Might as well support that which helps me with info. 🙂

Wow ... looks to me like the exact same one that I have, and it's teakwood. I am very surprised to see these on CBID, although they have been here before. I've had mine for years ... and I won it here ... then had to go to that 'other' site to get more because they were no longer offered here.

BTW --- regular price is $29.95 at 'discount' places, but I've seen the Bostn V-Cutter listed for as much as $125 ... and the only difference is the exotic woods used (Bloodwood, Bird's-eye Maple, Zebra Wood, and many more) ...
