I got a box of peg legs today. They were very dry and about 5 of them were unwrapping at the tip. Is this common with bucs? God I was looking forward to one, but they need some humi time.

IMPALAD, sounds like they weren't cared for properly. Bucs are a very high quality cigar. Going for the extended humidor time should help but if they're really bad I'd contact you vendor and see if you can get them replaced. If that doesn't help, contact Bucanero from their website.

As stated before, check with your vendor first. The way you described them sounds like a problem on their end. If no efforts are given then email Bucanero with all the specifics,hopefully they can get you a replacement box. Bucanero will not be replying to you ASAP from Aug 2-Aug 10, they are in Nashville for the RTDA Show. Please be patient.

IMPALAD --- I discussed that very ssue with Robert (President of Bucanero) at the Napa event that was held near me last month ... and he said that there is a 'design' flault, that they are working on, with some of the boxes. It seems that certain boxes are about a quarter inch too long in the length, giving the cigars room to move up and down. Believe it or not ... in all the lines, a percentage of the boxes are 'drop tested' ... to insure that they hold up under rigerous shipping circumstances.

Apparently (especially with the Belicoso) minor cap (tip) damage can occur if they incur any rough handling from UPS or USPS ... and even I had a box shipped to me from CBID, where 3 or 4 of them the tips looked like they had run into a wall. I did not make an issue with it, because I know the cap was coming off anyway ...

... but that was totally unacceptable to Robert. He said that all of their product should arrive to the customer in pristine condition, and that the customer should expect nothing less.

Right now they are thinking of lining that 'gap' with foam, or something similar ... to eleviate that 'movement' problem in the future.

As far as getting them dry, the reasons could be numerous ... but one, could be the incredibly hot days we've encountered the past few weeks, and you can imagine how hot it must get in those 'brown ovens' ...

Regardless ... if you are not satisfied, contact Customer Service, and they will be more than willing to correct the situation for you.

... that is, if you ordered them through the mail. If you bought them at your local tobacconist ... do what the others have suggested.

Thanks for all the info guys. I got them here, and I did notice the gap your talking about Slim. I don't have to bad of a problem with it because its going to get cut anyways. I was just curious. I'm just a little excited to try them. Thanks for your help guys.

Definately give them some down time. If the wrapper becomes a real problem, I suggest some fruit pectin, available at the grocery store to fix em.

usahog --- Fruit pectin (usually a powder) is used in making homemade jams and jellies ... and gels fruit/sugar mixtures for cooked or freezer jams ...

... and has been talked about quite a bit over the years on these forums, as an easy to find solution for repairing wrappers that have come loose ...

Yep. It's a food product that will act like a glue to any patch work you may need to do to a cigar.

No Slim, actually I have missed all the posts on the Pectin... but I did know it was for some sorta Can'n Now I know what else to use it on thanks to Mean!! and Yerself!!! wife has some of that laying around tooo!! LoL
