But I simply CANNOT find a guide to the pairing of wine and cigars! I've been desperately search for some kind of guide that covers all the bases, like what wines go with what cigars, how they should be enjoyed together, etc.

Can anyone provide me with a weblink to a good site that offers a big guide or FAQ about wine and cigars?

If you are a wine connoiseur, I think a cigar is going to dull the nose for a very subtle wine, so drink something bold, like a big, heavy red, without much tannin. I like fairly bold and spicy cigars, and for me, the best wine with a cigar has got to be port. YMMV.

Since this info does not seem to be available anywhere, why not do a tasting and post your reviews.

I'll confirm that LLT likes port,as I saw him drink almost an entire bottle,one little glass at a time,LOL. X

I used 'Google' ... and typed in 'Cigars that go well with Wine' ... and you are right.

Not much out there paring cigars and wine, but lot's of stuff on the other potables ...

Just kidding, wine can go really well with a cigar.
If I'm smoking a strong maduro or sungrown, I pair it with a burgundy, Cab, port or other dark red
If I'm smoking something mild with a natural wrapper, a chilled white is as good as any fruit juice (plus it has the much needed booze that many of us require)

Part of the beauty of trying new wine and new cigars is that you can increase the experimentation factorially by pairing up new combinations and hopefully finding something you really like. Enjoy

yep..concur...port. I'm kinda partial to the tawny but like the regular too.

I think you just might to have experiment around a little bit. I had a Don Tomas Cameroon Robusto last night with a glass of Ravenswood Zinfandel, and the wine was heavy enough to stand up to the cigar pretty well. Contrary to the prior poster, I think a fairly tannic wine would be required to match well.

Port is always a great cigar wine. Nothing beats a glass of port after dinner with a good cigar.

However, this weekend I had a bottle of Hess Collection Cab '97 with a San Cristobal. The two went extremely well together.

I also like port. Goes very well with a nice smoke after work.

I have found that cigars do not dull the nose for the bouquet of MD20/20 (any variety), Wild Irish Rose, Red Dagger, Ripple, or Mogen David High Octane.

MD 20/20??? Do they still make that stuff? We used to drink that stuff in college.

Sorry! Got carried away. I sometimes smoke a Bad Frog and they just seem to complement those types of wines. Ignore me!

Port, port, port!

I love port with or without cigars. Check out the Australians which always taste old than they are. If you are on a budget find some Benjamin Port. Only $11 Bucs and you would swear it was a 10-year.

If money is no object and you like sweet wines. Get a hold of some Eisewein or some Beerauslese. Very sweet whites. Unlike any wine you have ever had.
