The president does not decide the size of his protection detail. The assesed risk to him requires it to vary depending on where he is.

I was in Jakarta once and Hillary came to town. They cleared out the entire Hilton for her, closed all businesses within 4 blocks and god knows what security detail she got.

Funny thing was, at the time, she was just married to someone who was elected in office.

There is someone on every board, isn't there...

Releasing millions of gallons of water during an endless drought for a photo shoot for candidate Gore is no big deal.

Rick,

The only reason you don't wish the president harm is because ****** Cheney would take over and there would be black helicopters circling your house in a matter of hours!

In a speach yesterday, President Bush came out in favor of growing flowering plants and raising birds for relaxation and enjoyment during these troubling times. He went further to add that the flowering plants would be good for the environment to help with Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen levels. President Bush- pro-bird, pro flowers.

Rick, put down that chainsaw and back away from the bird cages!!! It was just a joke....

Rick I guess you didnt read the entire article. Here, let me help you...

``They always mount this kind of security wherever the president goes, whether it's a visit to advanced countries like Germany or England or a less advanced country like Thailand,'' Sant said. ``The U.S. is a major target for terrorist attacks, so such tight security is understandable.''

Large teams of security agents are also to be sent by Russia and China to protect their leaders.

Maybe we should vote Rick off.

BTW, KMA!!!!!

Typical sort of mistake by people who hold ultra strong beliefs. They tend to read what follows their opinion and bypass something that may oppose that belief or opinion.

Rayder - Yet again the voice of reason. I agree, and it happens repeatedly on this board by both camps!

JonR - Best president ever you say? That's a good one!! LMFAO!!!

I've worked on protection details for Clinton and Bush, and I promise you Bush is better protected because he respects the agents and they enjoy working for him.

And as for Bush v. Clinton...Clinton was the most overseas traveling president ever. By a long shot. And as the article states, there is always that leve of protection.

I also work protection details for dignitaries (not President). In today's world, this level of protection is a must. Don't get started on the Clinton boondoggles and jaunts around the world for nothing more than sight seeing. PRESIDENT Bush is a high profile target. I salute my brothers and sisters in the Secret Service for their dedication.

A stock broker, on his way home from work in New York City, came to a dead stop in traffic and thought to himself, "Wow, this seems worse than usual." He noticed a police officer walking between the lines of stopped cars, so he rolls down his window and asks,

"Officer, what's the hold up?" The officer replied, "Hillary Clinton is depressed, so she stopped her motorcade and is threatening to douse herself in gasoline and set herself on fire. She says her husband is running around on her more than ever and the Democrats told her to forget about running for president in 2004. So we're taking up a collection for her." The stock broker asks, "How much have you got so far?" The officer replied "About 4 1/2 gallons, but a lot of folks are still siphoning."

kcody, I'm a damn tree hugging peacenik liberal, but that joke is a good one.

JonR, Bush as "the best president ever." YIKES!!! Put down that Bad Frog and slowly step away.

We have to protect our president in a time like this. No matter how much some Americans disagree with his policies, I know I disagree alot, we have to make certain that he is safe.
