That's right, folks...an imposter has perpetrated my humidor!

Tonight, I decided to compare my ISOMs to the known genuines on Cigar Aficionado's counterfeit gallery. All my cigars checked out, even the suspicious Montecristo robusto that some of you may remember I was asking about weeks ago (well, the band's legit, but it might've been snuck off a real one and onto a counterfeit, so there's still some doubt).

But then I got to the Romeo y Julieta corona that emgjet gave me as a bonus stick on a trade. For one, the gold coins on the sides of the band were just gold circles, no detail whatsoever. Two, the raised bumps around the edge of the band were sloppily done and didn't even follow the paint. Three, when I took the band off the cigar, it wasn't cut right on the end, the number "2" that's supposed to be on the end was cut-off.

I'm gonna try to smoke her later and see if its real or not. This is nothing against emgjet either, since I'm sure he didn't know and all the other ISOMs he sent me were legit. It just goes to show that you have to do a lil detective work with your ISOMs sometimes.

I smoked it. It wasn't terribly bad. It tasted like they'd probably just stuck a fake band on some low to mid-priced Hondurans or Nicaraguans. Not real bad, but still too harsh to be an ISOM, and left a nasty aftertaste too 😠

poor taste to identify the person who gave it to you, and it's also wrong to say that all ISOMs are smooth and not harsh. If it's a green ISOM it could be authentic and just taste harsh due to the lack of aging...

I have to totally agree with Chris here. You should have consulted with the gifter/trader first on this before you made it public!!!

You can't hide stupid ---- and boy, your stupid is showing all up and down this forum......You who have admitted to a limited few weeks or months of experience in the world of cigars (but doesn't stop you from pontificating and going on and on and on about something you have so little knowledge of --- sort of like when you write your little term papers in your little dorm room,) YOU are castigating one of the PREMIER members of this board - a man who has been involved in 100s of cigars being successfully traded and an individual who has received nothing but the highest praises from his trading partners. This is also a man who has donated an unbelievable amount of smokes in support of our Warriors - but you make the comment that your statement is "nothing against (the individual) -- I'm sure HE DIDN'T KNOW !"
HE didn't know --- now your arrogance is showing as well as your ignorance -- that man knows a whole lot about cigars because he has been smoking and studying for years --- not reading about them " to find out if they are good".

Well, at least you made the people in your Village happy --- they were very worried that they lost their idiot --- but here you are apparently safe and sound. Now you have a good day in school sonny, and why don't you leave the cigar smoking up to the men.

Though I agree it is in poor taste to mention the name of the sender without first consulting with them, I have to disagree with the way Doc responded to it.

Doc, reread the words that ikonoklast7 used and you really won't see any anger or malintent there. He was sharing the information he found out with the other Brothers of the Leaf. He may not be seasoned, but he did his homework and was just warning others to be careful. He also mentioned that all the others from emgjet were ISOM. I guess he just pushed your button this morning, but let's keep civil.. especially when no harm was intended. After all, this board is continuously sending folks to the fake sites to research and allieve their fears.

I couldn't talk to emgjet because he hasn't been around for weeks and hasn't responded to emails that I sent him a month ago. My comment was in no way intended to make him look bad, I'm merely saying I'm sure he didn't realize the cigar was a fake, since he's a very kind and outstanding member of this forum and I don't think would've sent me a counterfeit on purpose. Do you think he would've intentionally given me a bad one?

I may have only a few months experience, but I have learn a lot, and lot of that knowledge has been culled from this forum.

I'm sorry for the bad form, but that in no way gives you the right to be insult and belittle me (and this isn't the first time you've done this), dockrs, and I think you owe me at least a small apology.

Yes, my buttons were pushed by this posting - I was very troubled by the patronizing and condescending statement of "I'm sure HE didn't know" coming from an individual who is so new to this experience regarding such a proven trader and an individual who has already found at least one local cigar retailer who no longer wants his business.

Now Danny, you mention in your sesponse that you meant no harm in your posting regarding my friend ---- I do not have the ability to accurately judge your intentions or what you did or did not mean.... You asked for at least a small apology and that's what I now offer.

I accept, dockrs. And I again apologize for my "faux pas" and if my remarks about emgjet sounded arrogant or snide to some. The main problem of the internet is that you can't convey emotion when you write, and I meant nothing bad at all towards emgjet. He's a great guy and I know he wouldn't try to cheat me.

Furthermore, saying "I'm sure he didn't know" wasn't trying to say emgjet's dumb or anything, I was just saying I'm sure he wasn't intentionally sending me a fake. The fake did look convincing, you just had to get up close and look her over to see the small lacks of detail to see that she was counterfeit.

And if the amount of ISOMs that emgjet sent me on our last trade are any indication of how many he keeps in the humi, lol, then sh*t, no one would have the time to check over all of them!

Sounds like someone needs to cool off and get their head out of their you know what before the same thing that happens last time you tried offending someone. Remeber a post when and I quote

ikonoklast7 --- did you ever stop to think that the ISOM he sent you as a 'BONUS' stick ... might have been a test for you? I'll put money on it that he knew exactly what he was doing.

A bonus stick is just that ... a bonus, something that is extra, and not expected by the recipient.

You really should have emailed the sender, and showed him how knowledgeable you have become in your short 'cigar career', at dectecting what you suspected was a counterfeit ... and you probably would have made some big points!
