yes this is a 1965 Pontiac GTO conv.- TriPower 389 engine. it gets around 5-7 miles to the gallon. just was rebuilt/installed 2weeks ago. you could only get tripowers for 3years 64,65,66 after that GM ended (race packages) back in the 60's Ronny and The Daytonas had the big hit (LITTLE GTO) i still have the record! we all had AM radios that played rock-n-roll as we went to the local drive-in movies...

There is a car dealership owner in Victorville California who let me see a couple of cars in his muscle car collection. His Grand Prix with I believe that engine was a true beauty.

I had a 1958 Chev Impala 348 tri-power that looked very similar. The valve covers were a little different but still a beauty. I had the vacuum linkage changed to a manual progressive linkage and had a firewall mounted fuel block. Also a Mallory duel point distributor. Am I showing my age or what.

Nice picture 65gtoman!

I love tri-powers. Many of the guys I knew that had them used to keep a wench in the glove compartment to adjust the linkage at stop lights. But they look great!!

I'm a car guy too. I'd love to stand around with a smoke and just watch the engine idle.Nothing like a clean fresh engine!

Xibbumbero--LMAO!

Don't worry Robby, if you want a hot rod hard enough, you'll eventually get one.

Oh, and the car's awesome.
