A friend of mine gave me a Gonzalez Y Martinez he had in his humidor. He got it while visiting his mother who lives near Ybor. I waited a little while before I smoked it, not having any expectations good or bad I smoked the torpedo with an open mind. It was a very good smoke. The taste was refreshingly crisp and lively. The draw effortless and burned evenly all the way to the end. I still do not know much about the Gonzalez Y Martinez Cigar Company other than it is next door to the Columbia restaurant and seems to be a favorite place to get smokes for my friend. The shops prices are fair on their cigars they make there so I might buy a few more. Anyone else try these? Anyone else have any of these?

I am looking for anyone else who has tried one and what they think of it. If I had another I would share.

I see a taste test coming up.

Why don't you get a group of people to buy a box, send out half of them to fellow board members for a taste test and see what they think.

I picked up some of these in Ybor the other day; they are exqusite. A fine cigar; even burn, good construction and a nutty taste. The wrapper was especially yummy tasting! I should have picked up more.....

YES!!

wow. this was an old post, but i'm glad i saw it. good ol' hog sent me a couple of these (thanks again, hog!) -- VERY tasty smoke, this is. i had a figurado, too -- kind of a cross between a torp and a cheroot. iirc, it either had a cammie wrapper or tasted an awful lot like a cammie. very smooth, flavor, well-constructed cigar. i recommend giving it a try if you're into med strength, full flavor sticks.

I smoked a couple of these last year but don't remember anything specific except that I liked them and made a note to myself to buy more the next time I visited. So, I picked up a handful in February on my last trip to Ybor and have them resting in my humi. BTW if you happen to visit I recommend eating at the Columbia too.

ROFL!! I just noticed this thread. I was in Tampa the week after Easter and bought a bunch of these cigars. I especially like the torpedo both in the nat and the maddie. I got a package which had three of each. I also bought a box of the coronas nats. Love 'em.

Cheers,
