OK here is my problem, . . .
This is my tracking information from UPS:
Sep 23, 2003,9:31 A.M. RICHMOND, CA, US ARRIVAL SCAN

Richmond is only 40 miles away from me, but when they were shipped, the delivery date isn't till Sept. 25.
UPS says that the shipper specifies the delivery date, WRONG! I talked with Trish at CBid to inform her of UPS and their services and she was lookin into it.

UPS doesn't believe in early delivery, so my sticks sit in a warehouse, (that should be against the law to treat a cigar like that). Now I have to wait two more days to get my precious babys.

Does anyone else have a similar situation where UPS treats your cigars with such bad manners???

I've seen a lot of people bitch about UPS but I have had nothing but good service with them so far. I recently had one package from another cigar place that was sent 3 day select and due for delivery on Thursday. I got home Tuesday night and there it was sitting on my doorstep. Could be the hub where I live or maybe my UPS woman likes me.

I have had this happen all of the time. I have seen packages sit 30 miles from my house for 4 days before being put "out for delivery." My guess would be that unless you are shipping Overnight or 2nd Day Air you package is not as high of a priority and will sit around until the "scheduled delivery" date.

Yup, what Dave said. I've always had good service from UPS. They usually deliver before their tracking states.

Well, I used to swear by the USPS. Every time Cbid shipped postal it arrived two days later without fail. Every time they shipped UPS it arrived 7 days later. Without fail. HOWEVER, now that the piece of crap USPS lost my precious box pass with over 50 cigars and priceless items... I think I'm a UPS man....

...sorry.... I think I'm going to be touchy about mailing cigars for now on... I'm looking for a support group....

So it looks like you all think it is OK for UPS to abuse my cigars and let them sit in a dry warehouse for a couple extra days. My precious babys deserve a better home than that for any amount of time.

Hey al'Thor, you find a shipping support group yet? Sign me up!!! LOL

I have heard shippinf horror stories about every company out ther. UPS has allways delivered on time, however if your shipper is close and he opts for regular ground service ups will never deliver in less than 3 days, Fedex will but it is not as easy (software) for the one who is shipping (they like to tack on fees) USPS has a good delivery date ussually less than 3 days if priority, but their ins policy is the worst, and airbore express, well they are okay most of the time, if you use their second day delivery, which is cheaper than anyone. Overall all companies SUCK, but what can you do!!!!!

I found a support group for shipping horror stories.
The group is led by Jim Beam!!!

Priority mail is the only way to go. Three days from cbid to Minot with USPS, seven days with UPS. You be the judge.

UPS is awful....i cant even have them hold my items so i can pick them up myself. i was told if i call after 5 the hold wouldnt be reported to the hub till the next afternoon (after the trucks are loaded and gone)
UPS is terrible and i always will go with the post office. i told ups that too......

UPS sucks!!! The supplier would have better luck placing the order in a bottle and throwing it in the closest river!

knof7393, I feel your pain. I have a love hate relationship with UPS also. I live in a no signature zone. So, the delivery people can drop off damaged packages and run away. Then, when you open the package, your items are damaged. Then try calling customer service. YEAH! RIGHT! They keep referring me to 1 800 GIV A SHI#. I hope I am not offending anyone, but I do not think that the delivery people, especially in my area, have a high school education. Who else are they going to get to ride around in those vehicles without air conditioning? I literally have received packages with FOOT PRINTS on them! Yeah, your package is important to them!
I have watched the tracking window and seen my package bypass Dallas to end up in El Paso. Seven days is long enough to wait, but 11 days is too many. If it were not for the drying out process, you could order green cigars and they are aged by the time they reach you.
What's a man to do?

If you live only 40 miles why don't you go there and pick it up?

I think you're bitching to hear your own voice!

OK DrMadd, this is for you. Read above and you'll see that I'm doing this to hear my own voice.
We all love UPS, as so many others have responded to the question. You should be glad that your a happy customer of UPS, or do you drive a big brown truck? LOL!

I play the odds. Let's see...Humans write addresses on a box and expect other humans to send the said box to the address they wrote and then its shipped by a plane/boat/car/truck/horse by a human. With that many humans involved you're lucky to get ANYTHING!

Now, I don't know what bizzaro universe you live in where you expect people to be 100% accurate and accountable, but in mine...some slip through the cracks.

Yes UPS Sucks,
I have always shipped USPS, without a hitch, until Sept. 11 of this year I sent a box from Arkansas, containing EMOTR box pass, to chipslave in Fargo ND, by way of USPS Priority mail. As of yesterday, no Box. Put a tracer on it, with the USPS, no sign of the tracer either. Because of their archaic tracking, I don't have a clue, nor do they, where in the hell Ethans box is. I am pissed at both USPS and UPS, and can't stand Fed Ex either, they can't hardly find my address.

I prefer my shipments by UPS. I live in Maryland and when CBID ships on Thursday they arrive on Friday. The couple of times that they shipped via the postal service it took a week to get to me! You should consider moving, you won't be able to smoke in California much longer anyway.

Ok guys, I hope I can put a few things in perspective.

If UPS ships a million packages a day (and I believe its more likely a LOT more than that) with a 99.9% successful delivery rate there would still be 1,000 packages a day will have some kind of problem.

The tracking on UPS is pretty good, but it's not as accurate for someone simply looking for his order. You don't see all of the notes or shipping details. Many times I've heard people say that their cigars sat in a hub for 3 days, when in fact what the site said was that it was ENROUTE to a hub. BIG difference there.

Don't get me wrong...sometimes I feel like screaming when I have to deal with UPS's Customer Service, but on the whole, they are FAR better than their counterparts at one of the OTHER shippers...

For what its worth... I have lost a few packages using the USPS, but have never lost on using UPS...
Others may not be so lucky.

BUT, I still use USPS all the time... certied only.
