This is the second installment in the mystery stick series from a fellow BOTL: Penguin13. I've decided to do the honors this way for these 4 mystery sticks. This first entry into the diary was difficult and baffling to say the least.

Mystery stick #11 arrived with #s 12-14 in a recent trade with the good Penguin; of which I might add was above and beyond a typical trade but I digress.

Mystery stick #11 is a robusto 5x50; medium brown, several veins but all in all a nice wrap; prelight aroma smacked of richness...hinting of sungrown but deceptive...excellent draw upon toasting and lighting the foot; the burn never required touchup and was even; good cloud of smoke lingering on the still desert air.

The ash was perfect and very very tightly layered; gray to light brown in color...fell at about 1.5 inches; this ash reminds me of the Buc classic maddie in every aspect; the stick is medium in body with decent complexity and should surely improve with age; now the mystery: the finish...a touch of sweetness and coupled with the complexity wanted me to think Davidoff Milly or Dunhill Signed Range, but those veins in the wrapper are throwing me off as the Davidoff wrapper is practically flawless (as far as I can remember..); the Dunhill...maybe, yet the sweet finish is baffling me in thinking Buc all the way. The complexity builds at the halfway mark and I perceive a more pronounced sweet woody finish.

This one is indeed a mystery to me but my choices in order:
Buc (but which one?)
Dunhill Signed Range
Davidoff Milly...

Solve this mystery.

oops, but you said it's a robusto, which the Salsa is not. Guess I should read the review before making guesses.

Here's a quote about the cigar you smoked.
"IMHO the Camacho regular line is not worth my money. And although these are good off the shelf, they age incredibly well and really change complexity after about 6 months " You hit the nail right on the head with this one. This really shows that you know what your talking about about 🙂 I completely agree with you on this smoke. I let them sit for about 6 months before I smoke them. This one has about a year and two months on it. It is none other than a regular Camacho Corojo! Great review of this smoke. I should have given you two. One that was right off the shelf so you could really tell the difference in the two.

KC

BTW - I sent jd1 that smoke BEFORE I read his review on it in the other thread

Amazing. I've never had the patience to wait on the regular Corojo line after I discovered the Diplomas. What really through me was the sweet finish. I do have some of the regular line in a few larger sizes, so I'll give them another year as well!

Continuing the Mystery tour...

I never had the patience either...I just forgot about this one -LOL. It was lying under my ISOM's (how it got there I have know idea) and I was re-organzing my Humi when I found it. Maybe they gave it some new flavor. Glad you enjoyed it but alas, I dont have any more with THAT much age on them -LOL. Lets see..hmmm, whats in store for number 12. Ooooh, you should enjoy this one.

Jd1 - what type/kind of camera did you use to take this picture?

It's an Olympus 3040, 3.2 MP, red eye on and full zoom under the patio porch light. Opened and zoomed in Photoshop, selected area to copy (not crop), selected copy; did a file - new and pasted into a new photoshop file, saved noting which output to use based on how large it says the file will be.

I've been really impressed with the results on photos especially those printed at a copy shop (Kinkos) or from photos uploaded and printed through "that other auction site."

Very nice! If you could, email me the full res pics of all the"Mystery Sticks". I think the layout of this pic is fantastic 🙂 It looks like something you would see in a magazine.

jd1 - nice work on the picture. it's an outstanding piece and I'm in awe of your photoshop skills.

Nice review too - I would have guessed a Buc Maduro robusto. But then again, that's why I'm no expert around here...
