I've had kind of a bad time this week, so I decided to make it up to myself with two super premiums this weekend.

The first one was today, my very first Hemi: the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature.

I read on AF's website that this was the first size of the perfecto line that the Fuente brought back in the early 80's that would become the Hemingway series. For the first few years, they made these just for themselves to smoke and enjoy...and I see why!

In my relatively short time as a cigar smoker, I've learned something about perfectos: either they're finely constructed...or they just suck.

Examples of the bad ones would be any Perdomo-made perfectos, which seem to immediately burn uneven as soon as you light them. Or an even better example is what happened to Chris (godfather) one time! He lit up an Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend perfecto (is that the Baboon size? Don't know), the thing immediately flared up, burned the hell out of his lips, and went out, taking over a quarter of the cigar with it! He lit it back up and it burned fine...but that just shows the disparity between perfectos.

Anyway, this was one of the good ones! Lit easily, and even with a narrow burn area to begin with, produced veritable clouds of smoke. I had a cafe latte with this one, and I found that the bold flavor of the coffee and the creaminess of the milk were perfecto counterparts for the equally-bold flavor of the tobacco and the smoothness of the smoke.

The only way I can describe the taste is pure tobacco, nothing can really be said to describe it more than that. Besides that, I could detect a strong taste of cedar, letting me know that this baby had been aging very nicely. The draw was smooth and easy, the smoke left a spicy tingle on the tip of my tongue, and it held a long, dark ash.

I don't know if it just burned fast or if I was smoking it too fast, but man I wish this thing had lasted longer.

First fell in love with the peppery taste of a good box of short stories, and never looked back.

Wow! I was going to post a new thread, but I might as well just piggy back this one - to celebrate my wife being gone (and being able to smoke in the house) and Separation Saturday (currently watching my Fighting IRISH kick some Pitt butt!!) I chose these beauties:

Monte #4 ISOM (gifted from rasdas - THANK YOU!!) Joe, this one was great. After the Monte #2 that coma gave me, I noticed many similarities. There is this unmistakable quality that both had that is hard to describe a sweet, rich, smooth finish - great way to kick off the day

My first 858 SG - Boys, BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! This thing is FOR REAL!! rich tobacco and cocoa flavor common in the AF's but with this amazing slightly sweet smooth finish that made it soooooo enjoyable! Man! I usually put my gars out when they get hot and harsh, but this thing never did! I have the blisters to prove it! What a day!!!

I stuck solidly to the middle of the road today.

Hoya de Monterrey with coffee,
Puros Indios #4 during yard work,
Indian Tabac Classic before dinner, and
Carlos Torano Exodus Silver (best of the bunch) with the evening beers on the patio

I may have to line up something special for Sunday (perhaps my last pre-fatherhood weekend:)

Then to finish off the Evening a Buc. Peg Leg!!!!

then the afternoon Cigar I'm looking at either a Padron 2000 or H Upman 1998 ISOM....

Worked all day to prepare for the changes, and then we got there at 10, reviewed, and began at midnight, then finished around 6:00... Only 3 times a week for the next 2 months and we'll be done! WEEEEE!!!!

Just had a CAO Gold corona. Very nice morning smoke. Sat outside and read. Very relaxing. Cigar burned very very unevenly and held ash poorly, but that's probably my fault. Taste was pretty uniform until the third third.

I had one last evening. I wasn't in the mood for something heavy, so the CAO Gold was the trick.

Funny thing is...I usually have some small burn problems with CAO, but my Gold last night burned perfect.

Followed that up with a HDM Maduro Rothchild...

then Capped it later with ummmm one of the Cigars (ISOM) I got from KCopper.. Keith and Ed stopped by for Breakfast/brunch and a few Cigars...
Ed, Fixed the Wife's Lighter and we had a nice Visit!!!
about 4 pots of Venizualin Vendetta Coffee...
