A site for another air purifier brand claims that the non-plated (ala Ionic Breeze plates that require cleaning) ozonators like the Csonkas cause a problem they call "brown wall". I assume this means that near the unit where concentration is the strongest, the impurities that the system pulls out of the air collect on the surrounding wall.

Anyone experience this?

The Csonka uses ozone output on their various devices. Based on existing data, ozone is an allotrope of oxygen, which is derived or formed naturally from diatomic oxygen by electric discharge. As an oxidizing agent, ozone has been used to purify and deodorize both air and water. Many models are both surface and wall mountable ...they claim it produces safe amounts of ozone.

What's the difference between an ionizer
and an ozone generator?

Ozone Generators and Ion Generators are similar devices. They both put out ozone and ions.

Ion generators have become popular for cleaning air and attempting to remove odors.

For purifying air and removing odors as well as killing viri, and mold ozone generators are many more times as effective.

Ion Generators simply negatively charge the air's ions so that floating dust particles will cling to a surface in the room, much in the way static electricity does.

Larger particles of dust floating in the room will stick to the wall, floor, and furnishings of any room they are in. Ion Generators also put out a very small amount of ozone as a by product of ion generation, but it is not enough to be helpful.

Ion Generators can partially clean the air, but not purify it.

Ozone Generators are just that, they generate the gas ozone which is extremely useful for purifying the air and removing odors. Ozone is sometimes called "activated oxygen".

It contains three atoms of oxygen, O3, rather than the two atoms we normally breath.

Yo sketcha: I have used the Csonka Pro model in my bedroom for about six months without having "brown-wall". The advertisement says no cleaning needed and thats wrong. I clean the filter (2in.x2in.) and the plates once a month. If you don't clean the plates and filter I could see how the impurities sucked into the front vents and not being able to stick to dirty plates and blown out the rear vents would end up on the wall. I clean mine once a month and leave it on 24/7 and believe me that fresh after rain smell is well worth the money and effort. JonR

I didn't know the Csonka had a filter and plates. I wonder if the standard model has them too. It seems better to have to clean a filter and plates than your floor and furniture.

Yo sketcha: The Csonka Pro model has a small fan that also should be cleaned. As far as physical ailments attributed to the Csonka Air Purifier I have not experienced any, however I have noticed my PowerBall Lottery tickets purchases have increased. LOL JOnR

I have the small unit which I keep in my SUV. It does a good job on the smoke odors. I don't smoke in the vehicle on a regular basis but when I do I leave it on continuously overnight and that usually does the trick.

I haven't experienced any bad effects from the ozone but it is really noticeable when I first get in the car in the mornings. FWIW, My 8-year old hates the smell. But then again he hates chilled shrimp too so what does he know:-)

I had a NeoTec for about 2 year now and I haven’t had any brown wall problems. It is a negative ion generator with a dust collecting plate. My smoking room in my house never smells like smoke. It takes a few hours after smoking a primo for the air to be odor free. Personally I don’t think that you are going to have any problem with your Consoka.

Mine is the Czonka auto version. I haven't taken the time to hardwire it like Slim has so it runs from the cigarette lighter.

I did this with mine, and it works 24/7 (even with the ignition key off) ... so, here's the info to set it up and it shouldn't take no more than 45 minutes to an hour:

Hard wire it directly to the fuse box in your car (to a fuse connection that runs even when the the car ignition is off, if you prefer) using a separate flat wire that terminates with a female car lighter plug (available from any Radio Shack, etc). Run the wire under the carpet or seats to exactly where the unit needs to be placed. Then plug the Auto Cloaker directly in right there with it's supplied male lighter, making it easy to remove to another vehicle if and when needed.


Two options:


1) If the location is permanent, forget the female end of the new wire; just snip the ends of the supplied male plug and connect it directly to the fuse box.


2) In addition to the above, you can install a simple switch in-line such that you can turn it on and off any time you want. Again, any single pole 12 volt switch (rocker or push button, etc) would work great and give you total use flexability. All this is pretty easy, low cost, and also fairly quick to do, giving you maximum ease-of-use and a perfect location-guaranteed application.
