I might not agree with their entire platform, but I am a proud Libertarian. I just thought I would post some of the stuff they send in their newsletter, every week.

America owes talk host Rush Limbaugh

a debt of gratitude, Libertarians say

WASHINGTON, DC -- The entire nation owes radio broadcaster Rush

Limbaugh a debt of gratitude, Libertarians say, because his ordeal has

exposed every drug warrior in America as a rank hypocrite.

"One thing we don't hear from American politicians very often is

silence," said Joe Seehusen, Libertarian Party executive director. "By

refusing to criticize Rush Limbaugh, every drug warrior has just been

exposed as a shameless, despicable hypocrite. And that's good news,

because the next time they do speak up, there'll be no reason for

anyone to listen."

The revelation that Limbaugh had become addicted to painkillers --

drugs he is accused of procuring illegally from his housekeeper -- has

caused a media sensation ever since the megastar's shocking, on-air

confession last week.

As the Limbaugh saga continues, here's an important question for

Americans to ask, Libertarians say: Why are all the drug warriors

suddenly so silent?

"Republican and Democratic politicians have written laws that have

condemned more than 400,000 Americans to prison for committing the same

'crime' as Rush Limbaugh," Seehusen pointed out. "If this pill-popping

pontificator deserves a get-out-of-jail-free card, these drug warriors

had better explain why."

Given their longstanding support for the Drug War, it's fair to ask:

Why haven't President George Bush or his tough-on-crime attorney

general, John Ashcroft, uttered a word criticizing Limbaugh's law-

breaking?

Why aren't drug czar John P. Walters or his predecessor, Barry

McCaffrey, lambasting Limbaugh as a menace to society and a threat to

"our children?"

Why aren't federal DEA agents storming Limbaugh's $30 million Florida

mansion in a frantic search for criminal evidence?

Why haven't federal, state, and local police agencies seized the

celebrity's homes and luxury cars under asset-forfeiture laws?

Finally, why aren't bloviating blabbermouths like William Bennett

publicly explaining how America would be better off if Limbaugh were

prosecuted, locked in a steel cage and forced to abandon his wife, his

friends, and his career?

The answer is obvious, Seehusen said: "America's drug warriors are

shameless hypocrites who believe in one standard of justice for

ordinary Americans and another for themselves, their families and their

political allies.

"That alone should completely discredit them."

But there's an even more disturbing possibility, Seehusen said: that

the people who are prosecuting the Drug War don't even believe in its

central premise -- which is that public safety requires that drug users

be jailed.

"The Bushes and Ashcrofts and McCaffreys of the world may believe,

correctly, that individuals fighting a drug addiction deserve medical,

not criminal treatment," he said. "That would explain why they're not

demanding that Limbaugh be jailed.

"But if that's the case, these politicians have spent decades tearing

apart American families for their own political gain. And that's an

unforgivable crime."

He’s only a radio talk show host, big deal, really…… that letter makes him out to be a member of congress or the leader of this country.

JFK was a pill popper from hell, so whats the point to all of this. He’s a talk show host and nothing more..

first your implying that I was once mad about that by using the word still, and that’s not true at all, your liberal thinking tells you to call me a racist because that’s all you liberals know how to do.

I personally hate JFK for denouncing masonry, being a drug addict, along with a few other things I will not even get into.

But thanks again on proving that all liberals know, is to pull out the race card at the drop of the hat.

Funny how some are so quick to yell out racist but bad mouth religion, that’s kind of racist in a way. But without color.

While both are big societal problems, I think there's a huge difference between use and/or abuse of ILLEGAL and use/abuse of LEGAL drugs ...

I agree SteveS,

Until those drugs, are diverted to the black market. At that point they become just as Illegal, as the others. Rush was buying them on the black market, no matter that the drug dealer he was buying them from was a pharmacist. He had no prescription. The pharmacist, probably wasn't selling them at his usual price, or paying taxes, on the proceeds, of his drug dealing. That means Rush was helping to support a criminal enterprise. It would not be such a big deal, if he wasn't a Big Name Political Commentator, who has been bashing dope smokers, and other drug addicts, for so long, while having a monkey on his back at the same time.

The fact that he is talk show is the whole point. He is a person that wants to direct people to his line of thinking, is the what at stake, crediability is some what lost. Classic, do as I say, not as I do.

"JFK was a pill popper from hell..."

I was basing my question on your statement, so if he did some things right then not all pill poppers are bad people, or from hell as you stated. Just because you have a beef with a couple things he said or did doesn't make him into the devil, he did a lot of good things for this country, and passed a lot of ground breaking legislation.

Sorry to prove my point in such a rude way, but your statements have been much worse.

That he wasn't all bad like your post alluded to, and that him being a pill popper or not has nothing to do with his character just like it doesn't with Rush.

SteveS,

I respectfully disagree. Morphine is a legal, prescribably drug. It's basically high-grade opium or heroin. The point of only allowing doctors to prescribe drugs is based on the fact that many are so dangerous.

As a man with serious back problems, I can empathise. I use chiropractic and very rarely resort to drugs, but that's because I believe I am more educated on the follies of invasive surgery and drugs. But I can certainly understand Rush's need to escape excruciating pain. Just as cancer patients can benefit from medicinal marijuana, doctors should be given all the tools necessary to help people.

I, personally take the liberatarian stance on this. Rush should get treatment and a second chance, but so should many of those who have been wronfully imprisoned for similar activities.

Let FREEDOM ring!

The Libs are right on this one.

Nearly everyone who is addicted to drugs, legal or illegal, takes drugs to escape some sort of pain...physical, mental, etc.

Rush did not take legal drugs. The moment he exceeded his prescription, he traficked in illegal drugs, just like any junkie. Just because they were legal when he started does NOT mean that they were legal throughout.

He won't go to prison. If he was a liberal, the conservatives would freak about him getting off. Consistency is a virtue, by the way.
