I'm not a frequent flyer, and am traveling to Maui nest week.

Can anyone comment on airline policy regarding the transport of cigars?

Is it permissible to take cigars in your carry-on?

I would check the cutter and the torch.

I was "Picked" for extra searching last time I flew, and although they rubbed their grubby hands all over my sticks, they let them go.

I did with no problem ... several times, and mine were international flights.

It's the torch lighters and cutters that they are likely to take away from you ...

I had a different experience here. I lost a Colibri lighter to the airlines and it was in my luggage NOT my carry-on. The bag was searched and the lighter was removed. I too was advised to keep lighters in the packed bag. Didn't help me.

Sounds like you should resort to the plethora of CBID matched you get and leave all lighters at the home base.

Oh, and while there, go to Mama's fish house and get the Macadamia encrusted Opakapaka with melted pineapple butter to dip it in.

There are two sides to that coin. Taking a cigar on board is no problem. You of course cant smoke it (FAR) but taking it on board isnt a problem. But, say you were trying to get a smoke across a border... The I would recommend putting it in your bag. Example.. In mexico, you have random searched.. there is this little traffic light, you push the button (or try to miss it) and if it is green you go, if it is red you stop and get searched... now them finding cigars on you isnt bad, but when you have bands attached to them that arnt legal, it presents a problem.. if your taking them with you, remove the bands, hide them in your luggage, or throw them away.. (Your going to be smoking it anyway.. right?)... say it is a native smoke that is eligable for exportation.. Sure helped me get some great Mexican smokes.... Also, some places will even reband your cigars for you.. this is not legal, and I would question any sellers ethics that did so...

Cigars are not a problem and neither is a cutter these days (although I would keep a cheap cutter or 2 in checked baggage and not take the good one) - DO NOT TAKE A TORCH Ligher. Either take a bic or buy one when you get there (or a very cheap torch). Torch lighters are not permitted and will be confiscated when found in carryon or in checked baggage (all checked baggage is supposed to be either x-rayed or searched these days).

forget the cutter and lighter take matches and go to Little beach right over the hill from McKenna beach ( I think) it's the best nude beach there, but watch your ashes 🙂

If you want to score with the ladies there, bring 2 cups of piping hot coffee and a dozen donuts.

A baggage handler once opened my checked baggage and squeezed one of my Opus X hard enough to crack the foot!!

This is what I do.

Leave the lighter in your pocket. Pack your cutter in checked baggage. Cigars in your carry-on baggage.
