I was in the local shop the other day browsing around for anything new. After having picked up the new Rocky Patel Vintage robustos (1990 and 1992), I spotted the topic of this review: The Perdomo Edicion de Silvio
Quite pricey at $16, but no more really than some PAMs, Opus, VSG, or Camacho Liberty, right?
I must admit that I've never been a Perdomo fan, but please hold off on the rock throwing just yet!
I will be back for more of these if I can manage it. The size was about a 5x54, very light coffee color wrapper. Prelight aroma was exquisite as was the draw. Toasted the foot and set ablaze, it delivered mountains of chewy rich smoke on a very easy draw. The smoke is very complex with a hint of sweetness (ligero?). It delivered a full bodied hour of smoking pleasure. The ash was a light gray and I never had to correct the burn. This was one of those smoking moments I didn't want to end. There are supposed to be several more sizes I've since discovered, but my local shop doesn't have them and doesn't know when/if he will.
I like this smoke because I can't compare anything to it. It's complexity is all it's own. Definitely a once or twice a year smoke, so if I can wrangle a few more of these, I'll be set for the next few years on this one.

Thanks for the comments; that lighter was an extra toss-in on a trade I did with the good Penguin13; he's always throwing some kind of extra in there. It's an awesome lighter and has already been through a half dozen fill-ups. LOL!

I hear they are an awsome smoke. My favorite local shop on Long Island (NY) wants 25 bucks a stick. So $16 actually sounds nice !

$25 for the robusto?
My shop has the torp for $24, but the $16 robusto shown above is the better value. I think there is also a churchill size too, but I've not seen it. I've only spent $16 once before and I think a PAM '26 was $18 once. This is one of those cigars that is smoked very very rarely, but IMHO it will be one that is enjoyed.

My local guy has a box of these (I think the churchill) and I too balked at that price for a Perdomo. May have to try one out now. Thanks for the review.

Will You All - Just stop with this "Local Guy Stuff"...

Where I live you can't get stuff like this and you're all making me very jealous! 🙂

However, on a side note, my local guy today Had Siglo VI's on sale for 400.00 a box...Hmmmm! What you think? Did I get one??

Sorry for the "Thread Jack"...

The "local guy" I go to got 3 boxes from Nick Perdomo at the rolling event on the 25th. Yes, they are very pricey, but boy, are they worth it.

Yep,
Some of us have to drive, over a county line to reach a "good" Smoke shop. I have convinced, a small shop dowtown to carry Partagas Black, Trilogy, and C.Torano. I think I am the only one buying them, except the owners husband, who I turned on to good cigars.
