Amazing isn't it. I ran across that place a couple of years ago when I was researching and "Untold Story". I think at the time I paid $12 and with a steak dinner there, I could have had it for a mere $100. LOL

My Brothers, This is my favorite herfin' joint! This is the place that rekindled my interest in the Leaf! If you look around their site, you will see what a beautiful cigar lounge they have; leather, wood, sports, fireplace, great food. I ate there three times last week. The food is the finest I have found in Austin. Sure the cigar menu is astronomical, but all the regulars bring their own. They have no problem with this, and no, they do not charge a "clippage" fee. Cool River also has a very nice dining room (smoke-free, so I haven't a use for it) and a huge bar area with probably 20 to 25 pool tables, a bandstand and dance floor, huge televisions, dining tables (smoke'em if you got 'em) and one of the most fully stocked bars I've ever seen. I know this may sound like I own the joint, but I dont. However every single member of the staff has treated me as if I do, ever since my very first visit. Granted, you pay first class bucks in a first class joint, but I have never had a bad time there, and consider it well worth the money. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the area. Hell, LMK if you're gonna be there and I'll meet you for a mini-herf! I was probably gonna be there that night anyway!

Sorry if this sounds like an ad, but I just love this place, and picking on her is kinda like picking on my little sister!

I have been there a few times myself. I knew it was a cigar friendly establishment, but somehow I missed the real smoking room every time I was there and ended up smoking in the back lounge area of the bar. There was never a clipping fee back there. I will just have to remember to bring my own next time when I go searching for the real smoking room because those prices are ridiculous even for bar. Then again Austin doesn't really have much along the line of real cigar bars besides this one, so they can charge whatever they want, I guess.

Here is another pricing oddity there. Taylor Fladgate 10-year - $12. 20-year - $14 Guess which I drink when I am there 😉 Best 2 bucks I will ever spend (except maybe for some of the deals here on CB).

Cool River in Dallas, too. Great joint. Food prices aren't bad, and the food is excellent. Drinks and cigars will bankrupt you, tho, lol

If we're going there for lunch, I'll get the Crystal Rapids Club w/fries ... if it's dinner, I think it's gonna be the Delta Blues Barbeque Ribs with either the smashed potato cake or buffalo potato and the veggies ...

But, either way, hold the cigar ... even compared to California prices, the price is more than a bit much
