Thank you to all veterans, including my dad and his twin. They actually signed up for the military upon graduation from Aviation High School in NYC. They served from the 60's till the early 70's (Cuban missile crisis & Vietnam). Then my dad was Army Reserve in the late 70's through early 80's. Last night at dinner, they were talking about some stories while they were in the service (it was great because they almost NEVER talk about their time in the service). When they talked about the Cuban missile crisis, it was pretty scary. Most people, although they were told we were close to nuclear war, don't realize it actually ALMOST happened (without going into details).
Thanks again Vets!

And you can bet all of those people sitting down will have an excuse...thanks Grandpa for standing.

Double what Billy said. And thank you to all veterans who made and are still making the sacrifice.

The local VFW marches every year at our fireman's carnival parade, (in August, usually 90+!) I always try to stand with my wife & kids after registering the fire apparatus. I had a guy get mad last year because I was standing in front of him when they passed with the flags...

When I first saw this it kinda ticked me off that no one else was standing but at the same time proud that I was taught to always stand for the flag, take my hat off, etc. Now, not to dimminish the meaning of this picture but it has been obviously photoshopped.

I agree that real patriots are hard to find but this is a photoshop job. The shadows are wrong.

Every time I go to a ball game and see someone sitting during the National Anthem I want to go kick the s417 out of them.

Then again, I was at a hockey game and saw a small line of people sitting in front of me during the National Anthem and I made a nasty comment. The guy turned and said "We're Canadian". To which my response was "When 'Oh Canada' plays...I not only stand...I know the words and sing along. I do it out of respect for our neighbors, and appreciation for the support since , after all, we are all 'Americans'".

For those who sit out of lack of respect......f*&$ 'em all.

i'm a vietnam era vet, my dad a WW-II bronze star winner and now my son a marine drill instructor at MCRD san diego. i look at this and can only think how true how true, where have all the real men gone. whether you like the politics of the present administration or not, all of us need to stand up and behind our troops in uniform and the flag which has symbolized our freedom for as long as we have been a nation.

Buckwheat, I'm trying to learn about Photoshop. Why do you think the shadows are wrong? I'm a (very) amateur photographer and they look appropriate, as if sunlight were coming from the front and to the right. (Buildings in shadow, others seated to his left have their back-shadows, etc.) What do you see that I can pick up on?

Thanks,
-Ted
