We've been talking a lot about what we can do to clean up the boards and make it a more friendly community and the most constructive suggestions I remember is for everyone to just do their best at being a good example of a BOTL - but what do we do when we have unwanted visitors screwing things up, harming people's reputations and "allegedly" screwing people on trades without heeding the instructions and examples on being a BOTL?? On the one hand - this board is open to all and the wide variety of people and the new friends we continue to make is what makes this place so great, but on the other hand, some of these people can really be damaging and need to be stopped. So what's the answer? I know cbid can remove someone for being under age or for overly slanderous/profane posts, but what about the incidents we've seen recently? Doesn't seem to be part of their jurisdiction...

I for one would rather stay then run to another board, and maybe with GF 'banned' there won't be any problems anymore - I guess digisle got run off also... but what if they don't go?

I believe these things happen from time to time. Relax, they work themselves out.

It'd be nice if all the personal attacks went away, but it's a dream I stopped having some time ago ... everyone agrees until they are the one attacked or see something that somehow compels them to be the attacker ...

We seem to have a few guys on board who for one reason or another enjoy feuding ... so, they post something to provoke it ... they take a strong stand on an issue they know will get a rise out of others ... sorta like the old Robert Conrad battery ads ... the ones in which he balanced the battery on his shoulder and dared the viewer to knock it off ...

Then, they act all 'surprised' when the inevitable reaction comes .. some who've been particularly offensive have been banned ... most, however, have not ... you don't hold your breath waiting for CBid to give many the boot, because despite what the rules say, it's something that rarely happens ...

The best way to deal with their crap is to not give these guys the attention they seek .. don't respond ... leave them alone ... when they get tired of talking to themselves, they'll either change their tone or pack up and leave ...

All very good points, I guess the last thing that I'm worried about is when people start getting burned on trades - all this talk about whether it should be public or private - I guess the majority feel the need to make problem traders public to all and I guess that's what I hope continues, so others don't get burned or at least know the risk they run....

From personal experience, I've noticed that I'm more sensitive when things aren't so great with my personal life. Things seem to be on the upswing for me so I think it would be hard to give a rat's ass what some jerk says.

Regarding bad traders: There seems to be a few fellows cruising the various cigar boards to take advantage of our good will. They will float a few good trades and then BAM they get a bunch going at once and split with the goods. I am sure they gloat over how much more clever they are than we. They don't get it at all! So you might lose a few smokes from time to time. Sure, it's aggravating! But remind yourself of how much you've benefited from all the Brother's generosity. Aren't you way ahead? I sure am! But these guys change their screen names and come back. That's why we need to post names and addresses of these bad fellows. Does one trade make a bad guy? No. But usually there will be a pattern of deceit. Unreturned e-mails, phone calls etc. It's pretty much the same every time. So put those names in the back of your address book and beware sending anything even close to that address. That's another trick. Use a friend's house. But, of course, be VERY sure before making the accusation. And some people aren't bad, they just can't get organized for anything! That's my observation.

I do not post alot but if you come out and say you are leaving all you are doing is giving in to the bad seeds in the forum . This realy is a very good site I think people take things a little to seriously , I watch alot of the posts more than I post and there is a very big wealth of information on this site , there is alot of helpful people on this site such as penguin 13 and others ,look for the good and ignore the bad!!!!!!!!

This is why I do not get into Box passes or Trades much any longer... I few years Back.. Slim and a few other Old Timers as Witness right from these very same boards.. a Group of good Folks Got Burned by a couple bad traders... not only was a box pass going strong until it reached the final first round of a couple guy's in it together... this guy went to the extent of building up a web site to track everything.. clever cover... I also had a trade going with his Buddy and BURN BURN BURN... all at once they were GONE...

So I revert to BOMBS!!!!!! Something I enjoy doing and expect nothing in Return accept to hear their Enjoyment of the Cigars!!!!!!!!!

I still have 3 Bombs waiting to head out from 3 months ago.. adding two more leaving tomorrow and a Package to someone I do not even see any longer on the boards... a 5 pack that has grown to a 15 pack from last years NCAA Tourney Winnings I haven't shipped yet

Coach is a very humble individual.

It took years of stored up courage for him to post here. Once he did...Lord, help us all. The 1st trade I did here was with him. Let's just say, that he set me straight. Who am I kidding. My ass STILL hurts and that was like 3 years ago!
