I was about to buy some cedar on ebay yesterday, then I noticed that the guy was selling Spanish aeromatic cedar. Is this the same as kiln dried cedar. He said it was the same wood used in quality humidors. Is he wrong, I thought spanish cedar didn't have a smell to it, unlike American cedar which is used to ward of moths....

Spanish Cedar has a very strong aroma when first cut or sanded. It gradually fades over time. The fact that the guy calls it Spanish Aromatic Cedar is a bit troubling. Makes me wonder if he knows the difference. Rich at lumberforsale.com sells on ebay. He sends the right stuff. Don't look for any really big pieces though.

Spanish cedar is aromatic, just not as powerfull or strong as other types of cedar. Check the grain, spanish cedar looks very similar to mahogany.

A word of caution. If you're going to work with Spanish cedar be sure and wear a respirator. The dust can be highly toxic to the lungs and sinus area.
