CW... during the start of the gulf war we had broadcasters from the BBC on our ship. They filmed all our launches (31) and made a DVD of it. We all gotone on the way home. It is nothing short of awesome. After our first night of launches everybody was out on the smoke deck firing up ISOM's we picked up in Bahrain!!

Yeah Shawn, but because this was the first live fire of our VLS launcher, and because we only fired 26 out of all the cells, and because we decommed the Deyo after we returned, this is a pic of the firing of the world's most expensive single-use disposable missle launcher!

#1 son is on the USS Ingraham (FFG 61) an was in the Gulf and watched many of these launches.

Canyon, my second ship (USS KEARSARGE LHD-3 is my fourth!) Was the USS Samuel B. Roberts FFG-58 notable for hittin a mine while underway in the Persian Gulf in 1988. I think my favorite ship was the USS Deyo DD-989 which was where I took this pic. It's a shame that they are decommissioning all the Spru-cans 😞 Deyo went last year!

Thats ok you did share some sticks when i was a bone head and forgot mine in a drunken state of mind. Oh yea helping to carry me back to the ship in Souda Bay too. So i guess its all good.
