I know that some tire of the humidor questions, but I find myself in kind of a different situation.
I cannot add PG or water to my humidors, as without anything in the humidifier, the humidity is about 67-70%. Sometimes it climbs higher, as the humidity here is fairly high most of the time.
My concern is when it starts to rise above 70%, how do you counter it?
When I first got the humidors I have, I lightly wiped them down inside with distilled water and they sat at 80% for a couple days before they finally dropped to 68%. Now, if I even add the slighted amount of distilled water or PG, it climbs right up.

Have you calibrated your hygrometer doing the salt test? I had the same problem until I calibrated mine.

Hope this doesn't strike you as a smart-a$$ answer, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it ... the goal is to keep your cigars humidified, not to add water to the humidifier without going over 70 ...

albama, yes, they have been calibrated and confirmed.
Remember, I stated humidors (plural).

SteveS,
Noted, but my concern was when it goes over 70%.
It isn't so much a problem with the humidors I rarely open, but the one I use regularly, the humidity will climb when the outside humidity is well above 80%.
So............
Is there a way to bring down the humidity when the need arises.
During the winter is especially bad, as the relative humidity can climb into the mid 90% range.

How can you "not have anything in the humidifier"?

If what I've read is correct, part of a humidifiers job is to maintain 70%. That's why they tell you not to saturate the thing, cuz when it goes over 70% it'll start pulling the moisture back out of the air until it stablizes.

Advise worth every penny you paid for it! 😉

How full is your humi?

Which part didn't you get?
Nothing in the humidifier..(you know, EMPTY)
Humidity inside humidor 65-70%.
Humidity outside 70-90%.
Open humidor often, humidity climbs.

"How can you "not have anything in the humidifier"?"
Easy,
you just don't put anything in it. OR as in the case of one humidor, I removed it.
I live in an area of high humidity, so if the humidity of the humidor stays in the 65-70% range, I don't worry about it.

I really didn't think this was going to become a deal where I had to explain every detail. Thought I explained it well enough.

Ok, let me try this question.
How do you LOWER the humidity in your humidor?

Easy. Buy a new humidifier.......don't wet it........and stick it (in your humidor that is).
