(Slim, this is trade related, a conscious placement)

I have been thinking a lot about this... and in our fine culture we love to give awards, and produce ceremonies, for the best of whatever...etc...

So, I did some thinking... who would I nominate for Trader of the Year - 2003. Now, obviously this reflects just my personal experience, but, I have been following the goings on of these boards very carefully this last year, and read many, many posts. My feeling is, generally, when anyone trades with this person, they were blow away...consistently. So I base my nomination on that premise.

(Please note, I am not putting anyone down here, just tipping my hat to folks whom exemplify fine gentlemen traders.)

My nomination goes to the Tinman for this past year...
and I give a HARDY runner up nods to SmithBW, and Lowman.

These gents always have shown class and honesty in their trades and all I can say to that is...

MEGA HOAH!!!!

i've got a handful of people to nominate, but a question first -- is this "for real?" i mean, is this going to work up into an actual award or naming of the numero uno primo BOTL trader?

i think the kudos are most excellent, and will add my names on here, too, but i also think an "official" title would be a great tribute to the BOTLs who have blown up so many mailboxes with their generosity. 🙂

also, there are those who have just sent out packages out of the kindness of their hearts (and treasure spots of their 'dors) who deserve a big MILLE GRAZIE and kudos as well:

Everyone has there own "Good Trader" list.

I don't do a lot a trading, but the people that I have traded with, I felt always went above and beyond. I have been satisfied with every trade that I have conducted. I hope the people on the other end of my trades have felt the same way.
Also, you cannot say a "Best" trader. Some people may have different experiences with the same trader... Someone that I trade with more regularly, I made conduct my trade differently than someone who I do not trade with as often. I'm sure other trader may have certain ways of dealing with certain people.
Also, people have different views on cigars.
Example: If someone likes Bad Frogs and thinks they are great and does a trade with someone for 2 PAM's and sends the trader 4 Bad Frogs... does that make him a "Bad" trader?? He may think that he is a "Great" trader because he threw in 2 fantastic bonus sticks...

It's all part of the BOTL experience... sharing the leaf... no contests... everyone does what they can !!

I felt I picked two great candidates, but Low is exactly right! This shouldn't be a contest, and generosity comes in So Many different shapes and sizes.
I thought about it for a bit, and it wouldn't be fair to the 15 or so other amazingly generous people that I never thought I would have even the slightest contact with, that bombed me senseless!!!
I really like this thread, for the purpose of giving props, but if I have only been around CBid for a couple months, and some here have been here for years.....some lists could get really long.

Maybe we should make it "Most unique trade, and with whom?

PT/ Thank You for the very kind thought..And I think I must agree with the "lowman" on this one because I don't and couldn't trade with every one in here I trade with a few and to make myself feel good a newbie once in a while if I see that one is having trouble finding a trade to get them started..But Lowman once again with such an element of true BOTL refinement I think hit it on the head..A Happy New Year to you and yours PT and many straight and long burning smokes this year..TinMan

1st let me thank Dave for the nice words.

Pete let me say I TOTALLY agree with Greg. I have been on this board for about 2 to 3 yrs now and we have never done anything like this. We all have had great experiences with other people trading. The reason I like this board so much is because we do not do things like this. Other boards do this type of things and it comes down to popularity rather then trader value. On this board we don't have ticker to see how many times someone posts, so no one just posts here for the heck of it. This board is about BOTL getting together and helping each other out. I don't they is anyone that would be nominated for this type of thing that would want it. I would not want this type of title, from the sounds of it either would Greg. Pete , you have met both of us and we are just two guys that love cigars and love to help out other, when it comes to cigars.

I think that is it, I think Greg put it better then me. I may not write well but you know I have no problem getting my point across in person.

I would like to hear from some of the other older guys here on the board and see what they think. Ok , I am done rambling.

I have met and herfed with PT many times and I don't think that this was meant to be a contest. I know how excited he gets about trading and I think that he was just trying to express his passion for trading. I know he always talks, and talks, and talks, and talks... (sorry PT, LOL) about trading and certain traders. He REALLY enjoys it !!

I feel that this is his way of starting a "Chuckle with Chuckler" Good traders list...

There is no way I could narrow this down to one person. I like to see the good traders list but agree with Rope, low and the others on this one.

So if you traded with me and we were happy you are nominated. That includes you Mr Chuckler.

I am SO glad Lowman finally flamed that PT - it's so obvious he hates him....just kidding. I don't think there's any hard feelings. We all have lots of BOTL love in our hearts put there by others and I know we all feel the need to express gratitude to all the great brothers and sisters who have been so generous to us. I alway feel people who do great things should be recognized and rewarded, but I think we do a pretty good job of that already. I resolve to make sure I continue to show my appreciation with everyone I trade with and start gaining back the ground that I lost to some who outbombed me in the past!!!

I know your heart is in the right place - always has been as long as I know you and we have had some wonderful experiences in the Brotherhood of the Leaf.......but the idea proposed above and so soundly pounded into dust by Lowman who made the notion disapear faster then Jimmy Hoffa.......you've got to stop standing so close to the Baby Powder.... I warned you when the little one enters your life you become severely sleep deprived --that's what I'm chalking this one up to...it's not Peter's fault......the man hasn't slept in months !!! I'd like to come up with one, but to be honest, everyone I have dealt with has been top notch.
In fact, I would go so far as to say they each humbled me far more than I could even say.
So for me to pick one person over the others would be slighting the rest and I couldn't do that.

well this helps me a lot I got stiffed from a guy name SA (STEVE ALLEN)I trustet and went out purchased some Pleiades from a store 20miles away and got those gars for half price send it to him the first time he e-mailed me and said I send the check and it must been loost, than he said I checked the check did not clear so He send me another one which I never received either and he does not answer his e-mail anymore.So this was my best Trader SA his name on this board.

I admit this idea looked better as a concept, but in the real world may seem a bit "off"!?!? Please know, that was not my intent. This was done purely as a fun thread to highlight some fine traders on this forum.

My bad idea. I deserve the heat.

I agree with the general thought, that all trades are fun and good in their own right, and there is no one "best".

So lets leave it at that.

it was a great idea, I thought.
It is pretty tough to make a call, especially when everyone's trades have been so different and from my personal experience, haven't had any bad trades, that I know of. 😉

Just got around to reading this. I thank those who listed me and I know chuckler was only trying to say "thanks" without turning this into a contest.
I have traded with many of you gentlemen this past year and look foreward to many more trades in '04.
Without exception is has been a great experience for me. THANK YOU ALL BOTL
