As some of you may recall, several posts back (read as lots and lots) I talked about mold in my humi. I know why; I spilled some water while replacing the water in my Oshkosh system. Yesterday when I opened subject humi, I noticed that three more cigars had developed beards (mold). These were fairly substantial cigars but I threw all three of them away which left the small compartment they were in empty. My question is: I don't want to lose anymore cigars to mold and is there anything else I need to do?

The moldy cigars are gone. The space they were taking up is vacated. I'm not sure what else I can do that would be effective, other than removing ALL the cigars in the humidor (a large one with over 300-cigar capacity). Does anyone that has had a similar problem have any suggestions, short of emptying the entire environment and starting over? I can do so if necessary, but that would be a last resort! Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Given that you keep having the problem, I would recommend taking all your sticks out. Wiping down the inside of your humi with diluted bleach to kill all the mold (make sure you get in the seams really well). Let it dry out and re-charge it. The PG solution should combat the mold, as long as you are using distilled water and not tap water.

Thanks to all who replied. I finally took the plunge, removed ALL of the cigars, and wiped down the humi with diluted bleach. I'm letting it completely dry (to get rid of the any traces of chlorine). Yes, I have a Western Digital Calibur temp/hydro in the humi. One thing I hadn't thought about: Although I have plenty of PG solution the Oshkosh instructions suggested using distilled water ONLY, which I did. When I re-season I think I'll go ahead and fill the container with 50/50 rather than distilled water only. Again thanks to all for your help/advice/suggestions. This exemplifies what I love about this board, BOTL helping each other!
