Smoked my first one of these with coffee this morning without expecting much and was pleasantly surprised! Almost a sweetness to the flavor. Started out on the mild side and increased in intensity a bit towards the finish. Would be interested in knowing what others think about these, especially the smaller sizes.

The old Costa Rica version, Fred?

I will agree fully. I was gifted a few in natural and maduro. I have smoked one of each and I will say that good ol' Don Douglas blended up a beauty with this line of cigars. Wow! It seems as though retailers who have them are either trying to get rid of the last of them, to make room for the Dominican version....or the retailer never had them to begin with.
I also just got the Bahia Gold White Label, and together: the Gold natural(orange label),Gold Maduro(Red label), and the Gold White (white label), Bahia gets 2 thumbs up from me. I have never had a Blu, or any other Bahia's but the three I have are Awesome smokes!

The Bahia Gold natural, IMO, starts like Fred said.....nice and mild, very small bite but flavor. Finishes like a Bucanero Crew and Torano Reserve Select....WITH SOME KICK, for a natural wrapper.

The Bahia Gold Maduro, starts a tiny bit bitter to me, then smoothens out in first 5 puffs, to a very pleasant aroma, slightly sweet maduro taste, and the flavors start Rollin'!!

I Want More!!!!! LOL

I gave someone a Bahia maduro with a red label at the last herf.... Was that you Turnberry??. Maybe Maybe not... Got 4 more of them that have been in my humidor for about 8 months... Time to check one out this weekend..

Both of you ... would you think this is more of a coffee cigar or a booze cigar?

I have been a fan of Tony Borhani's cigars for a while. I went to a cigar event two years or so ago, before Bahia was on my radar screen. Recently tried the Gold Maduros which I also believe are quite good, but would have to give props to the Milleniums. They were rolled in '99 and the artwork for their jar-o-dors was commissioned to a cuban artist and then all kinds of heck broke loose. Needless to say, they used to be rare, but I believe I have smoked the last one in existence.

Yes, I am bragging.

Don't worry, soon there will be someone to back me up on these (he is getting the really really last one, but he doesn't know it.)

OK, so I went out to a couple sites to check out the Bahia cigars. I think the red label maduro and the gold label are different. But my curiosity was telling me to check this red label Bahia Maduro out. I don't remember ho long I had these. Bought a 5 pack, I'm pretty sure from Cbid several months ago, maybe even back in 2002 and proceeded to bury them deep in one of my humidors and forgot about them until I did some re-arrangining earlier this month. Passed one out at the herf without even trying one.

So tonight, I poured myself a stiff belt of Tomatin 12 yo Single Malt and punched one of these Bahia maduro red label robustos and went out to give it a try. Starting with the pre-smoke bouquet, I could tell this was going to be a winner. What a nice fragrence!! The draw was nice and easy. Then I lit it up and wow again. Incredible smoke volume with a rich sweet earthy flavor. But never harsh. Smooth tasty billowing clouds of smoke enjoyment. Definitely one of the best 2 or 3 cigars I've had this month. Construction was close to perfect and the taste and body was consistent for the first half of the cigar. Finished a little richer and lost a bit of the full bodiness toward the end but still a fantastic smoke!! I thought it did fine service wto the scoych turning it into a sweet nectar that was wonderful with this cigar.

Now I'm a fan. If these Bahia's stay consistent with tonight's experience I'm going to have to buy a box soon. I'm sure the aging added nicely to the experience. I would love to hear anyone else continue with their comments about this line.

I have a Diadimus Millennium that was actually gifted to me by a nice salesman at a Philadelphia cigar storefront about 3 or 4 years ago. I smoked the smaller size Millennium, I believe it was called the Erico. It was fabulous. The Diadimus is probably another cigar that I will be buried with ... LOL
