i have tried a few 858's, but not the sungrown, cant even find any.
would anybody like to trade a few.

Ahhhh, newbie search for the Holy Grail.

hey, what should one look for on these, anyway? any particular markings, or does it flat-out say "858 sungrown?"

cello and cedar, with Flor Fina 858 written on the cello and a black foot band. If you stumble across a bunch e-mail me please.

Forget to mention - do a search somebody posted a pic.

as bassdude said, all others are in cello only.they still say 858, but the sungrown are in cidar and cello.

*sigh* well, i had one and let it fly...

my uncle, back when i first started wanting to try cigars, sent me a handful of nice sticks to try. this was one that he sent. i got into my first PIF and had just over a dozen sticks total to my name -- some nice AFs, a couple ashton classic 898s, etc. as well as some alts and no-names, but i wanted to send forth the best i had -- an AF with the black ribbon at the foot was one of them i sent.

the guy just sent back an email (after some nudging; had to ask if he'd received the package) and then just said, "got the package, thanks."

not that i want some bombastic hurrah; that's not what it's all about. but i wish the guy would have at least let me know that he didn't consider them to be dog rockets, ya know? LOL

after the lukewarm reception the best in my humidor got from this guy, i just wish that i would have known better and saved it to send on to someone else (such as thineself!). *sigh*

I first read the previous 6 or 7 posts and my muscles tightened. Glad you found that smoke, Tony, cause that should be guarded or smoked with dear life! I have one and it has a special place on the top-top shelf along with a few new one's that DED and Chipslave know a little somethin about. Wow, is all I'll say.

my uncle, about 7 mos ago, sent me a few cigars -- this was one that he'd sent. i held onto it just knowing it was an AF, and that i liked AF's. had NO idea what a "big deal" of a cigar it was. i hope the guy who received it in my first PIF enjoyed that one. still haven't heard from him. *shrug*

but thank god (and DED), i indeed found that 858 (flor fina and all!) aging peacefully at the bottom of my humidor. i'd like to send it out to one of you very deserving guys, but at the same time this was a very generous gift (in a so-called "trade" *cough*), and i also want to honor the giver and enjoy it. it'll be my first of that kind.

here's a question, though -- the unca also sent one just like it but with a green ribbon, florfina 858 on the wrapper in gold. i DID smoke that one and enjoyed it thoroughly. WOOOOF! what was *that* stick?

also, i went to my local cigar store this evening just to say hi -- in his walk-in humidor, he has a half dozen sticks with the black ribbon; they're shorter, though -- are folks after these, too? if so, he said to contact him via phone or email. if anyone's interested, email me at [email protected] for his contact info. i think these were going for $4.95 in his store.

Green ribbon is the maduro. Also excellent.

The shorter sun growns sound like the Chateau SG to me which also come in Double Chateau. Also good.
