I saw this was up for bid, so I thought I'd toss out a review of it in case anyone's interested in snagging a deal.

This one was a nice surprise

A brother gifted me with two of these awhile back, and I let them have some humi time, as I feared that I had not been giving any of my cigars enough nap time.

I used what I call a "boxer" cut on this cigar -- you know "the ol' 1-2 punch combination." I punched a couple of holes in the cap, closer together than a figure 8, more oval in shape to cover more of this cap's girth. One cut would have sufficed, though. The very loose pre-light draw promised a very easy time with this robusto.

The foot toasted easily and evenly, and the first few puffs offered up generous, flavorful smoke. You could write a novel in smoke signals with all you get from this cigar!

This was a treat to look at as well as to smoke. Its tan wrapper had a moist appearance but burned consistently all the way down to the nub. Synergy produced a nice, sturdy light grey ash that stayed intact well into the second inch.

This one started out nice and easy and mellow and then did a little tap dance all over the place -- a little pepper, a little sweetness, a little leather, and all of it just as balanced as you please. The multiple notes dance very well together, and then come together for the show-stopper -- a nice, high-kicking finish of full-on spicy flavor that had me nubbing it and begging for an encore.

I could have danced all night with this one!

Good to hear Tony. That was gifted to you in your Newbie Welcome Sampler from the Smellster correct? If so, that is a cigar that I got a couple boxes when I first found CBid and CI, and gave them humi time, then sent a couple to you and told you to give them a little more age. Great to see such a well-written review. Many consider Synergy as a "dog-rocket", cause they go for chaep, and they arrive a little "green", but I like them for a mild-medium , smooth, with a slight kick to finish....when they have atleast 6 months humi time. I have a ton more. More will be flyin your way soon, along with what I think are the spiciest smokes out there. 🙂

yes, sir! that was one of many fine ones you sent my way. not only did you send one excellent newbie sampler, but your advice was 100% right on. i'd been having trouble with cigars burning evenly, and my first perdomo was pretty much a total loss because it burned so out of control. you advised me then that some cigars needed more nap time than others. back then, i thought that letting a cigar sit for awhile was just what some guys did with fancy cigars to "age" them so they'd taste better.

i took your advice about that (and also reduced the rh% a bit), and i have not had a single problem cigar ever since.

have you considered opening a cigar bar, smelly? you'd do well, because your suggestions are RIGHT ON, and you definitely know what you're talking about with cigars!

anyway, the Synergy is light years from being any kind of "dog rocket" (as if you'd ever send a brother a dog rocket to begin with).

another one you sent my way in pairs was the menendez y garcia "fundado." i had one about a week after it arrived, and it was wonderful, too. you must maintain your cigars absolutely perfectly, because that one smoked great with just a couple days' humi time. just this weekend i executed its twin, and while i could definitely see in it the merits of letting it rest, the difference between it and the first was subtle.

now where i HAVE seen MAJOR differences is with perdomos. i have to thank you for giving me a second chance with that tobacalera. after my first, i was ready to disavow them entirely. you said, "no no no. try this!" and sent some my way and instructed me to give them time to chill out and lose a little of their newness in the humidor. once again, right on! made all the difference in the world.

*PERK* hmmm! spice! can't wait to see what you think is one of the "spiciest smokes out there!"

thanks for all your help, dave. you've really made a huge difference in my life as a cee-gar smoker!

A cigar bar......hmmmmm. I'll take one of those and three of those. Sounds good to me. My plan is to run my own Golf course, and have a large cabinet humi as the back-wall of the Pro-shop. Golfers would feel stupid not buying them, and looking cool......and I would be in command of my two addictions. Golf and Cigars. Whatta plan!!!!

I thank you for the kind words, Tony. You are a good guy, with an abundance of positivity. I like anticipating your next review, and "copious amounts of smoke", is a great line...By the way.

Ironic about the 2 of us, we both stated that Helix natural was our fave(chalk bland), when we first came to CBid. After being bombed by the fellow Brethren, we quickly moved to darker wrappers, maduro, sungrown, and searching for the spiciest damn smoke we could get our hands on. Really good to hear, that cigars like Synergy are still enjoyed, with your recent move into the Spicy, and all cigars I have sent you so far have been fairly lower-priced smokes that can be smoked any afternoon, and you feel no guilt about burning it.

Now....the games begin. Your mailbox will soon be SmellyBombed with the good stuff. Keep pumpin out the great reviews, and I will keep sending you the goods. Sucha deal.

Best wishes and perfect health sent your way, Tony,

Dave

Very nice review,
I smoked a synergy recently and really enjoyed it but I wasn't sure I should like it as much as I did because I got it so cheap on CBid. I'm such a newbie that I haven't tried a lot of the primo smokes yet and have been real happy with the sticks that I've been able to buy for a buck or two a piece.
I did give away 120 Vega Finas that I foolishly bought a few weeks...I felt a little silly payin $20 bucks to ship cigars that I wasted $50 bucks on but I didn't have the heart to throw them away and didn't wanna give em to anyone locally (didn't want them to think that's what I consider a good cigar). Oh well, that's part of the learning curve I reckon. I'll just consider it an ignorance tax and move on. Now that I've started reading the threads in the forum here I've gotten a better feel what to buy and how. My thanks to all that post here.
Smelly if you happen to see this I want to say I appreciate the true consideration you put into your posts. You obviously take a lot of time to go out of your way to be helpful to the newbies here. Your input is insightful and not demeaning, your patience and kindness isn't going unnoticed.

smelly, again, thank you for turning me on to these cigars -- and so many others as well.

guys, if you've ever had any dealings with smelly4tay, you know he's amazing. not only is he the "mad bomber" extraordinaire, but his advice and tips here have always been right on.

i owe this man bigtime.

he set this newbie up with a plethora of sticks to try -- just because we had one in common that we liked starting out and he wanted to welcome a new guy. not only that, but then when i ask if he'd like to trade for some PG, he turns around and hits me with PG, foam, more sticks to try (and very good, i might add!), containers for the foam, a rubbermaid to keep it all in -- and that "rubbador" has been THE best. for those who don't know, i have nerve damage in my hands (and legs and feet and...), and it hurts like hell to open a regular hard plastic tuppador kind of box. the one he sent i have NO problems with AT all.

i can't think you enough, man!

emgoldgolf........You, like all cigar smokers, as they gain experience, will eventually work your way up the scale of premium cigars.....but don't ever apologize for what YOU like. If you like a particular cigar, regardless of what you paid, then that is a good cigar for you. BTW........I've been smoking for quite some time and I've invested a substantial amount of money in purchasing absolute top-of-the-line premium cigars that I didn't like nearly as well as cigars I've paid far less for. The important thing is, if the cigar is good to YOU, then it is a GOOD cigar...........Just my thoughts..............

Hmm...must put my 2 cents in here, bought a box of Synergy sticks and wound up trashing most of them...just about the most tasteless smoke I've ever had, IMHO...glad you fellas liked 'em, tho. Opinions are like teeth, most people have at least one. Or something like that.

eggman: sorry you didn't like 'em. i gotta ask now -- what's your usual flavor profile? do you usually like cigars more towards the full-bold end, or ?

i like mellow smokers with a LOT of peppery spice. this was mellow throughout with hints of all different kinds of flavors, but i got a great kick of spice on the finish without a bit of harshness.

I haven't had too many regrets. I've still got some of my first couple of boxes and bundles I bought on here (Gran Habanos, and Free Cubas) I still smoke em, and enjoy em! I bought three boxes of those PI Presidentes Cbid ran about a month ago. I have an increasing number of premiums, and starting to aquire some super-premiums (mostly through the generosity of some GREAT BOTL!) I've bought a few of the Gurkha Platinums, and Gurkha Aged Cammies, a fiver of Gurkha Master Select, About to order a box of Tributes, got a few bids working to upgrade my collection, but still go back to those Free Cubas, and the PI's on a daily basis, cuz I couldn't afford to smoke two or three gars a day that cost $5-10 (cbid price!) I couldn't afford it at all if it wasn't for Cbid! I guess what I'm trying to say, is don't feel bad cuz you like a $1 cigar, it's a bonus! You will find the $15 suckers are better, but you still can afford the $1 smokes everyday! So enjoy! I always try to include a few good daily gars as bonuses in any trades, bday bombs, and newbie samplers I send out, cuz that's what many people really appreciate, a taste of something really good, and an idea of whats decent that they can have all the time, isn't it? ***Ramble OFF***
