Here is a picture of my trial run of four different tobaccos. The smallest one is two weeks behind the larger three. (the largest one has 3" width leaves, the others are 2") I plan a crop of about 25 plants for this summer to try my hand at rolling my own. It will be quite a while before I will get to light one up but it will give me some smoking time while tending to them.

living in NC, i've thought about doing this, too -- just to see if i could keep 'em alive for a change! (i've lived in MA, MI and MN -- not growing states! LOL).

wekikther4wer - The 25 - 30 plants I plan will yield approx. 50lb of leaf. Step 1 is to dry
the leaf by hanging the leaves in my carport attic. (very open but very protected) Step 2 is
to cure the leaf in a curing chamber. Which provides low heat (130 degrees) and high
humidity. Each step takes about 4-6 weeks. Final yield will be about 5lbs of cured leaf.
Note: 90% of a fresh leaf is water. Then I roll my cigars. They are best if aged in the
humidor. The longer the better.

cooksta2 - At this time I am limited on seed count but I would be happy to send you some
in the fall from the few plants I plan to let go to seed. I sent you email with a U.S. supplier
in case you do not want to wait. They are not at all expensive and there is quite a selection
to choose from.
