I made it as a prototype. I had some new tools that gave me some problems (D#@$ Craftsman router!). Because of that and some other stuff, there are some flaws. I'm pretty good at covering up. Even so, I know they are there. I also experimented with a new finishing process. I have about 20 hours spent just on that! My hope (dream?)is to do some custom work in the future by request.

xrun: man, but that is beautiful! if that's not meant for someone as a gift or sale, i do hope you'll keep it and use it. that's just a very beautiful work you've created, sir.

if i could have any skill in the world, it would be to do woodworking like that.

Wow... that takes some talent! I am too scared of power tools to even try something like that. I was the kid in shop class who built bongs and dugouts while the rest of the class was building clocks and other fun stuff... 🙂

Yo xrun: When I was in the ninth grade my woodshop teacher said to me " Anyone can make a broom holder ", I proved him wrong. Your working of wood is not only beautiful but also useful, I envy you. JonR

Craftsman only makes hand tools as far as I'm concerned.

The thing I like about Craftsman (besides the hand tools) is that they have a 1 year warranty on everything. I had a palm sander crap out on me and the guy at the store said, you've had this for, what, 6-8 months? I said, something like a year, maybe a year and a half. He said, well it looks like it's only 6-8 months old and we'll replace it under warranty if that's the case. When did you say you bought it? Oh, about 6-8 months ago. They were out of the same one, so they gave me the "Professional" model in it's place. Can't beat that...
All that said, I still like my grandpa's Porter Cable router a heck of a lot better than my Craftsman!
