You seem to spend a lot of energy trying to tear down Bush, but I rarely see things you promote. It could just be me and that I don't notice them, but what I do see is a lot of negativity.

i'm not against it. IT'S NONE OF MY BUSINESS NOR YOURS.

why should you care what other people do. if you look at the pictures of most of those applying for marriage licenses, you will see mostly older people who have spent there lives together and like james cain said about his friend in jail willy nelson, he doesn't wan't to die in jail, it's a thing.

these people don't wan't to die in the jail of not being married and having the same protecion most americans, who have a 50% divorce rate, have.

so what's your problem with it?

spare me the religeous homilies.

don't you remember slimboli adding my face to that tall rather heavy female viking. i saw nothing wrong with it. matter of fact it was funny.

have you forgotten my magnificant obsession?

it's not as though i accused mccain of being against breast cancer research (see 2000 coup d'état) or starting a rumor about kerry's so called infidelity, or making dean's campaign cheerleading look like he was screaming.

chasyb,

Why bring gay marriage up? I agree with Rick, it is non of my business. I don't agree with it but as long as it doesn't interfere with my life, who cares if they get married or not. So they are allowed to share all the benefits of being married? Maybe consolidate on health insurance cost? Who cares? Again, I don't agree with it but let them do it. I bet their marriages last longer than most of the marriages that take place today between straight couples.

It's like abortion. I don't believe in it nor would I ever have one (if I was a chick) but I can understand why a woman should have the right to choose (boy I hope I didn't open up a can of worms bringing abortion into this).

Rick,

I have a few questions for you. You are OK with gay marriages right? Is it OK for sisters to marry in your world? What about marrying multiply partners, is that OK? What about brothers and sisters. Because some states are now trying to allow Gay marriages people are now suing to have other ”alternative” lifestyle be given the same legal standing as heterosexual marriage.

You can't just say it doesn't affect me so it's OK. You need to look at society as a whole.
We need to think of the future of our society not pander to the minority groups that are about “me”. The future is our children. Study after studies have proven that children and society are both better off if children are raised in a household with a mom and a dad. What we need to be doing is promoting and giving incentives (both economic and socially) to promote this arrangements. Provide consoling and support groups to help people succeed with their marriages.

Look at the adoption issue. So you give all of these alternative lifestyle marriages equal standing they will have the same chances in the adoption process. You could not give preference to the heterosexual couple in this process. The child and society loose big time but Ted, Bill and the ACLU are happy and that’s all that matters. That is just wrong.

jstiltner, you sound like a NAMBLA member, I mean after all, if a young boy and an adult male want to have sex, what business is it of yours or mine to stop them, right? Live and let live?

robby,

NAMBLA? That is a little too far. You have to be rational with some things. That is like saying "if so and so jumped off a bridge would you?" When something involves the welfare of a child, it is everyone's business to make sure that kid is ok. That young boy does not have a choice or might be influenced by the "Older" man. But when that young boy turns 18, I could give two craps if he wants to love men. It is alright if he puts his life on the line, in the military, a police officer or a fire fighter, but can't have a relationship with another man? That's wrong. Just get over it. It is here to stay and there is nothing we can do about it.

For example, this SF thing happening with them allowing these marriages, I catch myself sometimes thinking "look at these ****" or when I see the couple with a kid "that kid is going to grow up gay." You know what? That is just wrong on my part. I know that. I might not like it, but I just have to accept it. Times are changing. You have to adapt to these changes. It's not going to be overnight.

It's like on my street, a half-way house opened about 6 months ago. Everyone was against it, complained in the newspaper, to the council and mayor. You know what? Those people in that house are some of the nicest people I know. They keep our street clean, they shovel all the senior citizen's sidewalks when it snows, they are really an asset to the community. But if everyone had their way, we would never had the chance to find out.
