Wow....I think I may have just had my "best" cigar moment. Home for lunch today, I often fire up a cigar to enjoy. Today was exceptional! On my back patio, just under the cover is where I usually sit in one of my comfy patio chairs, today the sun was beaming, hitting me as I relaxed, soaking up the sun...oh my gosh I felt like a cat! LOL I have not as of yet actually reviewed a cigar, being newer, I have been afraid to. But you know what...heck with ya, I'm going to!
Cigar: Gispert is the choice for today
Size: Toro (50 X 6)
Wrapper: Ecuadorian grown Connecticut wrapper. It was very light in color, very creamy and smooth looking with a few viens showing...hmm looks promising.
Filler: Honduras and Nicaraguan combo
Binder: Honduran
Cut went without any problems, prelight draw..whoa, no resistance at all. I even thought maybe it's too dry or something, but upon inspection I found it very supple and ready to smoke.
The light went almost too easy, almost over did it, but worked out fine. The burn through out the smoking of this cigar was perfectly even..all the way! The draw continued to be extremely easy, but each draw gave me a large amount of smoke. In the begining, I'm thinking a medium strength. Definately not mild. Slight woody flavor. With each draw the flavor enhanced just a little, working to a nice nutty flavor half way through. A little spice got mingled with that about 3/4 of the way. First ash drop at about 2", that I tapped off to reveal a nicely rounded cherry.
As I soaked up the sun, I concentrated very hard on this cigar I was smoking, and I thought it very similar to some of the Padron's I have enjoy. Not the same in taste, but similar. All the padron's I have smoked so far have all provided this same easy draw, with lots of smoke and great flavor. This is the same in that way. The finish was great, as I drove back to work, the flavor stayed with me, and I am hoping it stays for a while...very pleasant reminder!
So yeah....good smoke. I liked it
