The absolute master of black and white imagery.

The range he could capture with the zone system is amazing, it always boggles my mind to see his pictures. Can't even come close to that.

The true art of his photography took place in the dark room. The images are striking, as is most of Yosemite, and he would wait days for the right lighting, but the art he created was so much more than what he saw throught the lens. Hours and hours of dark room time for just one print was not uncommon. His mastery of the media is uncommon today. As you might guess I too love his work. Having a professional photographer father, I learned to appreciate his work at an early age. If you get the chance, go see an exhibit of his original prints, it's truly inspiring.
