I have an ISOM Bolivar in my Humi. I traded one of my Cohibas for it with another guy on the ship who told me they were good. It is about 6 1/2 inches in length and about a 48 ring gauge. Anyone have an opinion on these?

Oh yeah. Smoke it. I just smoked one a few weeks ago (corona). My buddy brought back a Cuban sampler of coronas he got from a business trip.

Burned perfect. Smoked perfect. Tasted great, not overpowering. Had a nice buzz afterwards.

I had a Punch (corona...from the same bunch) that was pure nasty. I was hoping the Bolivar would be better and it was, one of the best cigars I've tasted.

I just did a little research (and since I am at work, I asked the kid what it was he got me) and it is a Bolivar Corona Gigante 7" long and 47 ring gauge. It is real. This kid worked in a cigar shop for a few years so he knows his smokes. I just went to CA and they had it rated at a 91. WOW! I want to try it but I have just the one and think I should let it age a little bit.

Good trade. The Bolivars compare favorably with the Cohibas. I'd be hard pressed to express a preference for one over the other.

Thanks X. I love the Cohibas myself... which is why I got a whole box. Love the Partagas Coronas too which is why I picked up 3 of them. As I have said before, I have yet to smoke an ISOM that I did not genuinely like.

The Bolivar ISOM Pyramid is a kick ass cigar! They are well made and have great herbal flavors and they are a really full bodied and robust cigar! I happen to like them very much, but be careful as they are readily faked due to their popularity!

Boli Corona Gigante.....EXCELLENT cigar!

What xrundog said. I would be hard pressed to choose between that and a Siglio VI.

I guess I would just have to smoke both!

I love the Cuban Bolivars. Little more full bodied and flavoured than some others.

Didn't Bolivar also used to have a churchill size (and a churchill size in a tube) that were the same dimensions as the Corona Gigantes? I remember that they had a different blend. Not better, not worse, just different.

Bolivar Corona Gigante thats what I thought it was. Very nice I have yet to meet a boli I didn't like. I think they are a complete cigar giving both power and finesse (sic). Welcome to the dark side.

Yes, they do. Had them side by side in the humi and the Churchill Tubo was just a weeee bit bigger than the Gigante.

All, As I said... I have just the one so I am saving it. I did smoke my last Cu-Avana Robusto just now though. I'll rate it on another specific thread.

Man only Boli I ever had was a bitty **** - still a good smoke.

I've had the Bolivar Gigante, and robusto, but were the legal kind, however. They were very smooth, almost buttery, med-full strength. I smoked one on a summer day with a real fruit-filled drink. The other I had after a seafood dinner and smoked it with a 15 y.o. Dalwhinnie scotch. Life is good.
