I'm talking, of course, about the "genuine counterfeit cuban cigars" which are legal in the US. I remember somebody mentioning them once before, but I couldn't find it. Are these any good? Is there a big difference between the Nic box pressed version and the newer Honduran "pre-embargo" version? Are both still available? Thanks.

You can get them from their website. I've had a couple and thought them to be pretty good cigars. Nothing outstanding, but good. I seem to recall a spicy characteristic to them. On a side note, they had a fairly firm draw, almost tight...but not quite.

Jojo sent me one to try...Excellent box press...Very spicy flavor, medium bodied, flavor really develops nicely...Tastes like cocoa...cross between a Perdomo Reserve and a Henry Clay Breva...Great smoke!...I would definitely recommend them!..They would make an excellent everyday smoke because of the price...I am considering purchasing a box from the OTHER company with two initials since Cigarbid doesn't carry them 😞

I read that they were made by Perdomo also. But the ones listed in the newest catalog talks about NON box pressed, Honduran origin and calls them "Pre-Embargo". Well, that's what the story calls them, the brochure itself simply calls them Genuine Counterfeit Cubans, which is confusing since I thought they were all the same..

The catalogue I'm looking at says the GCCCs are made in Danli, Honduras. Ecuador(Conn) wrapper; Honduran binder; Honduran, Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. I have only had the corona sized prototypes and did not care for them. As far as I know, the "Pre-Embargo" variety is not yet available to the public. Samples were distributed at the Herf For Fools. They are very good, IMHO.

got one on a trade from brent. box pressed. very good cigar. forget about the two letter cigar site. after that fiasco with going public and than buying back the stock at about 1/2, he is not well liked and my annual $3,000 budget with him is $0.00. i'd rather smoke a snake than buy from one.

I have had good luck buying from the "snake" as Rick so politely put the term, and will buy from them again.
Although I have not tried the cigars in question, and probably won't order them due to overstuffed storage limitations. Hell, I smoke two or three cigars a day and have quit buying from everybody for at least next three or four weeks. Will try them one of these days. Charlie

rik, since this isn't promoting the competition, I hope okay to talk about. I heard about that company buying the stock back, but little of the effect it had, and by your post, it seems quite an effect. What was the story behind buying back the stock?

I have smoked a half dozen or so of these and they are a good cigar that will be GREAT with at least six months of ageing... There are no "pre-embargo" limes with this line... If you like abeefy cigar then try them...JMHO...

the stock came out at about 15 and jumped around from that to 27. stock dropped to about 18 or 19 (i bought in at 26) and i was content to wait until it grew. HE put out an offer to buy it all back at 15 and the trading stopped and he was the only one to who would buy. this took place in about a year. why did HE go public and than change HIS mind. if it smells fishy, there is a dead fish somewhere.

GCCCs are made by Perdomo, a bit green right out of the box, need at least 3 months humidor time, then they're great! Medium to Full Bodied (the Churchill is probably the best of the line) Great construction, nice box-press, oily as hell. Worth the $$. Pre-Embargo GCCCs are Honduran, a bit more bite, a little acrid, need humi time. Full to full bodied 😉 No box press in this line, only traditional parejo shapes. I had the Robusto, it was not bad. I'd suggest the GCCCs but not the "Pre-Embargo" GCCCs. Hope that helps...

Some companies/owners have found out how easy it is to lose everything by shifty buyers and have gone back to being rpivately held. JMHO

RICK, There are a TON of companys buying back thier stock at the lows that are out there with the market as low as it is.. Make sense to me.....

Whats up with this pre-embargo stuff???

Here's my dilemma. All the pictures of the slide top boxes say "made in Esteli, Nicaragua" (Perdomo). The description in the catalog says " made in Danili, Honduras. Well, which is it????? I THINK that the "pre-embargo" ones are Honduran. But I don't know. I'd like to try both.

I've never heard of "Pre-embargo" GCCs...The one I had was made by Perdomo and is a damn good smoke!

Tastes nothing like a cuban but is a good full powered smoke. too full for this little indian.
