I have finally got the humidity in my Humi to where I want it. It is reading 68% RH at a temperature of 66.8. I took this reading from the top tray of my Humi. For kicks I decided to put the Hygro/Therm on the bottom of the Humi and see what it would read. After a day I checked it and the RH was 64%, the temperature was 65.9. I'm concerned cause the bottom is where most of my smokes are. Not that 64% is horrible, but I didn't think it would be more than 1 or 2% off from top to bottom. Comments ????

Hey fboldt,

How big is your humi? (kind of a personal question ain't it!!)

You may need a small DC powered fan in there for circulation. I'm currently working on developing some but haven't found a good supplier yet.

...CPU/Processor fans work great ... use any old 12v DC power adapter (.500ma is best) - it will plug into a standard outlet - and run about 4 fans and you can use wood screws to mount them inside the humidor ...

- works great !!!

My Humi only holds about 75 - 100 cigars. I was thinking of getting some kind of circulation like you mentioned but don't have much room.

.. then use just one fan ... they're only the size of a half-dollar (squared) and less than 1/4" thick .... you're thinking of the BIG CPU fans ... you need to look for the SMALL CPU fans ... the ones that are used on video cards are even smaller and still work great .... you could even hook on of those up to a solar panel that would generate using a standard household light source ... just drill a small hole in the humi for the cord to pass through ... then, from the inside, pass the two small wires through the hole in the humi to the outside, solder/connect the fan to the solar panel, used THIN carpet tape (double sided scotch tape basically) to mount the solar panel over the hole (usually on top in a back corner of the humi). The solar panels are about half the size of a credit card (or less). You have to match the output of the panel with the volts required of the fan. You can also (a little more expensive) just go to Radio Shack and pick up the parts over the counter ... less than $20 total though. I have extra crap lying around the house that I'd be glad to ship out ... next time I get home .... and unfortunately that could be awhile. But - you have the basic idea ...

... almost forgot - you have to MEASURE carefully the length of wire - and - the size (diameter - yea GIRTH Marla) - and if done correctly you can 'coil' the wire to rest inside the hold and both the fan & solar panel lay 'flush' with the humidor surface inside & out.
