I won one recently here on C-Bid. MSRP $135. I got it for $79. Best lighter I've ever owned.

no lie! for that price, it had better balance my checkbook and cook me dinner! 😮

so, jazzy, what makes it the best? i'm not very familiar with it -- does it have certain features others don't? just good quality, or ?

It lights first time, every time. I've had many high-priced lighters that crap out after awhile, but this one is reliable.

man, i hear that. 😛 even if i had the big bucks to drop right now, i wouldn't purchase another colibri -- i've owned 3 of them in the mid-range pricewise, and every one of them has broken down time and again, no matter how i babied them along.

i guess i'm a bit gunshy about lighters that are supposed to be "all that" and end up being eeeeh... not so much that. :/

glad you found one that's REALLY reliable! 🙂

Two friends had X-tend lighters that both crapped out at about one year. Hope you have better luck.

the trick with colibris is to use filtered fuel (colibri is 3x; i use lava now, which is 5x filtered) -- and to BLEED THE TANK before you refill. i do both now, but it's a bit of a PITA to have to bleed the tank before every refill. oh, and you're supposed to turn it down as low as the flame will go before you refill, too.

they are great lighters, but my next one will be a davidoff/dupont flip top lighter with the clasic "PING" noise that is music to my ears.

All they are, are a 'status symbol' ...

... there are a lot of great lighters out there, for a whole lot less, that work just as well or better ...

I had one, used it a couple of times (wasn't impressed) ... then sent it to that guy we never hear from anymore for a ton of German candy. He seemed to like it, but I think I got the better end of the deal ...
