HI y'all:

A 'friend of a friend of a friend, etc...'(you get the idea) bought some ISOM Monte 2s from this store in England, The box is stamped, the rings are not equal and the cigars taste like cows@#$t. They overcharge for a non-existant product. Beware

(not that I would ever endorse buying contraband cigars).

I'm curious ...

... have you read the 'Forum Rules and Conditions' yet?

Wow, you violated two at once!

"Some examples of unreasonable messages may include the use of profanity, advertising or commercial purposes, competing web sites, or disparaging an individual, a race or religion, a company, or website."

Slim:

Take it easy when someone is out over $600 bucks they want to warn others about fraudulant practices.

I'm confused... Monte #2's don't exist? Don't tell everyone else... they sure seem to think they do.

Caveat emptor I guess. You shouldn't be buying ISOM's anyway. They are illegal here...

fritzthetiger --- that's fine, as long as you don't step on our hosts toes ...

... posting online cigar sites is one of the rules that our hosts ask that those who visit their forums don't do ... and if you wish to warn others, posting your email addy is the acceptable course of action ... and you wouldn't be breaking any of the rules here at CigarBid.

The other thing to consider, since Cuban cigars are illegal in the US ... warning others of sites that those of us who live in the US can't (or shouldn't) be buying from anyway, is something that really shouldn't be posted on our hosts site either.

... and like chipslave said, when you deal in illegal substances, if you get burned ... that's the chances you have chosen to take.

He should have shopped at Duck-Billed Platypus Store. They carry the real McCoy.

Thanks guys,

But since this is the WORLD wide web, it might make sense. Let's be real! No hard feelings though.

fritzthetiger --- there are no hard feelings at all ... just be aware that even though this is the 'World Wide Web' ...

... this particualr forum is owned by a US company who has set out certain 'guidelines' for those who wish to partcipate here ... 😉

Slim,

http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/forum/forum.cfm?action=list&forumID=1&messageDisplay=0000000020807

Just because they are illegal for purchase here, can we not even discuss them?

ISOMs are discussed at length here all the time. Slim's points were:

1 - Don't violate the rules of our hosts by using profanity and disparaging another retailer or website and,

2 - When you purchase things that are illegal, sometimes you get burned.

As usual, he's right on both counts.

I guess that's true if you consider cows#$t as profanity.

odelay01 --- there really was not profanity (so to speak) on this thread ... what really is in violation ... is:

1 - Violating the rules of our hosts by disparaging another retailer or website and,

2 - the posting of any retailers retail website, even more so, if they deal in cigars that are illegal in the US. CigarBid is located in the US ... not in a country outside of the embargo. This online retailer not only sells 'contraband' cigars (which of course, CB does not), they sell pretty much all the accessories that CB also sells ...

Sure, Cuban cigars are discussed here all the time, and that is fine ... but understand that is not the issue on this thread. It is the particulars of what is being discussed that can make, or break, a thread ...

Since this is the weekend, there is a limited staff available to view the threads. But wait until Monday morning ... and I'll bet this thread is either appropriately edited, or possibly even deleted completely ...

if you want to be technical, which some of you nit pickers seem to feast on, he did not use profanity, and did not mention the name of any stores. In fact his warning was really useless as you have no idea where not to buy these cigars in England, in Slim's initial message copied below, fritzthetiger did not violate any of the clauses, unless you count his comments towards his friend. I would think Slim is guilty frequently of his "disparaging an individual" in numerous postings as are many others.

unless the name for his post is the actual cigar shop, never heard of them. If that is so, one violation.

Why would anyone want to challenge the rules anyway?

...they work just fine, and it makes this place way more organized and respectable.

ISOM talk of this kind should be done through e-mail. That is a fair request, no?

aberdeen --- maybe in the beginning years of these forums I may have been guilty of disparaging an individual from time to time ... but that was long ago.

Do you know the definition of 'disparage'? I have not 'said bad things' about anyone here for quite some time (if I ever did), so that was a totally false accusation to make.

Just because I stand up to folks once in awhile, and voice my opinion every now and then, doen't mean I have said anthing bad about them. Give me a break. By your own admission a few threads back ... you haven't been here in a year or so ... so you really are just pulling things up from your memory.

As far as the two violations are concerned, they are very clear (yes, the website is in the thread title) ... and like I said, come Monday we shall see.

slim, yes, part of it was based on what I remembered, I also read some recent posts, one about wrappers, that the accusation was made, and also within the past comments about you being insulting to others. That you are right I can't verify since it is second party information.

Second, I confess I came here right after checking the baseball scores and was hopping mad about another Yankees loss. Sorry about that.

Yeah, let's get to the really important stuff, like do you leave the cello on or off? And why do so many people overbid on cigars? That's the stuff I want to know.
