sorry to post a new thread...but i did a search and didnt see any immediate answers to my questions...i recently purchased a humidor (250 cigar capacity, with just one removable tray on top, the bottom of the humi is just a deep resevior), my questions are since i am a newbie, can the botls tell me:

1. how do you organize your gars? by preference? taste? size? wrapper? manufacturer? flavored/unflavored etc?

2. though the humi says it holds 250 smokes (its a big humi for my standards), it really barely holds 60-75 smokes neatly...maybe because of all the different sizes, guages, i have...i am not organizing them right? or should i take out all the dividers and just pack the gars or leave the open gaps when the gars are packed with dividers...all i have are samplers of various sizes that dont fit right...

any suggestions botls/sotls would be greatly appreciated...

happy smoking

I don't think there's much we can give you - each person has their own preference for organizing their gars, and you just have to arrange it however you can considering the demensions of your humi (although I would suggest just going with a cooler(s) ) Take the dividers out if you don't need to keep them seperate, try stacking verticle and horizontal, keep the similar shapes together so there's no wasted space - you just have to play with it. Here's a recent link on this discussion:

Organize? Hmmm, weird word, wonder what it means?

verb: cause to be structured or ordered or operating according to some principle or idea

verb: bring order and organization to (Example: "Can you help me organize my files?")

verb: arrange by systematic planning and united effort

NO, I don't organize. Though I have been organized enough to smoke one at a time, so in a way, that seperates that one from the others and is in itself a type of organization. Though slow.

Trust me... There's no need to organize...

After playing... uh, um... I mean caring for and rotating your cigars... you will know EXACTLY where each one is...

Try it... Think of a cigar that you want to smoke... I bet you that most of the time, you can go to the correct spot and get it...

Lowman pegged that one, I know where everything is;

In one of the humidors!

You can organize all you want but it won't stay that way unless you have less than 12 cigars.

Doesn't really matter in most cases. Whatever suits you. One word of caution............If you want the true taste of your 'gars, do not, repeat, do not, store your flavored and unflavored cigars together. If you do the flavored ones will eventually permeate your entire humidor. Not only the unflavored cigars but the cedar lining as well. That can eventually lead to being able to use the humidor you mentioned for flavored cigars only. Particularly as your tastes change and become more subtle/discriminating for the cigars you smoke. Just my thoughts...................
