Yesterday I went back the store where I purchased the "funky" '64 Torpedo and spoke to the store's buyer. He said that it was probably too wet (as others had pointed out in the previous thread). He then laid another on me for free. He also told me that if this one was bad he would let me pick out any stick in the shop as a replacement. He did ask me to let it sit for a week in my humidor but he wasn't insistent. He said that we could go outside and fire it up right there. Good service goes along way. I will stand by this shop any day. I'll update in a week or so and let everyone know if the "funky" '64 was just an anomaly or something more. Thanks

I agree that this store is great, as is the buyer. The funny thing is that it is in a big liquor super store. This guy has consistently been able to get in stock all kinds of great cigars (e.g. Padron '64 & '26, the whole Perdomo line, Ashton VSG's, Opus X's, etc...). It is insane that this is all in a liquor superstore. I have yet to walk in the humidor and not had a choice of two different '64’s to choose from. True one-stop shopping. I can pick-up a bottle of wine or some beers and a couple of sticks for the box. Very cool.

P.S. They generally have pretty competitive pricing as well. They are seldom charge more than the discount on-line companies and they never mark-up rare smokes. NEVER.

I would like to find a place like that in Seattle. Every retail shop I find has redicuously high prices.

I used to live in Vegas and thought that was crazy but Seattle is not much cheaper.

You can't beat a place like that. Let them know how much you appreciate the great customer service.

Drop me a line also as to the name/location of this place.

The store is in Louisville, Kentucky. The store name is Liquor Barn. I'll get the buyer’s name (Josh?) & number next time I'm in. I'll also check and see if the they have a website (I doubt they do). I'll also get some prices. Is anyone traveling to Kentucky for the Derby? Churchill Downs is one of the few cigar friendly venues left in sports. Later

I just stopped by my favorite store to check out their selection and prices. They had four different boxes of the PAM in stock (open boxes) and one unopened box of PAM Torpedos. With tax (6% in KY) they sell the PAM Torpedos for $270/ box. I picked up two Ashton VSG Spellbounds ($12 each) and two Diamond Crown Maximus Toro #4 ($10 each). They have all of the different sizes of VSG's but only the Toro #4 on the DCM's. Now the kicker. It is illegal to ship any tobacco product out of Kentucky. So... if you are in town for the Kentucky Derby please let me know and I can give you directions to the store.

Buckwheat --- keep in mind, that the markup on cigars in most shops is not 'rocket science' ...

... before taxes, it's usually always close to 50% ...

At least, that is what one reputable tobacconist told me ... and
