I have to admit that I totally swiped this topic and question from another board, but I thought it was a good one and would like your opinions. It was posted on the other site back in January of 2003 and I thought you all could enlighten us on what you currently think. To be honest I don’t know if these cigars listed are still available or not, I’m just copying the question verbatim.

What eight boxes/cabs of cigars must every well rounded humidor have? Please only consider currently available mass produced cigars. For example VSG ER would NOT be eligible for consideration, but the ISOM LEs would be eligible, such as the Monte Robusto. Years do not matter, let us assume if someone was going to acquire these cigars today what 8 boxes/cabs would be essential to have. Another caveat, it is not enough to say Opus, please be specific in the brand and exact name of the cigar, so an Opus X #4 would be the correct way to cite the cigar. Again, this is the well rounded humidor (ie., a couple of notches above a novice).

Hey BeatDragon,

Really the PD4 is more of a morning cigar. I smoke them at breakfast in Mexico just to get the day off to a good start (and to piss off the wife!!) I'd take 8 boxes of PD4 and you guys can have the rest. Perfect size, flavor and price.

Hell, I'd smoke any of these in the morning....and have.

The HDM's are just to damn good to leave off the list.

Hmm, well if you were to just ask me today if I could have any 8 boxes in my coolerdor then the list would probably be

AF SG Cuban Beli (although if I smoke one of my two 858s and like those better then those if you can find them)

PAM Torpedo

Opus X Super Beli

ISOM Punch Punch

VSG Beli

ISOM Boli PC (for when you need a quick smoke)

ISOM Cohiba Esplendido (havn't tried, like the cohiba I have had and you need a big un for those special occasions)

CAO Brazilia Samba

That would probably be it, but it would be tough. Not really a lot of light gars for mornings, but I dont buy into morning gars, I smoke anything at any time, and usually on an empty stomach 😛
