How to say this delicately...I guess there isn't a way so I'll just say it.

How much is it costing to help these kids. And isn't there kids right here in the US that need helping?

I'm for action in Iraq for the removal of WMD. I'm not for action in Iraq as a humanitarian effort to save their children. I don't think pictures of our soldier's helping their children should be used as an excuse for our presense there.

But that is just my .02 worth.

Show me were we have children dying of malnutrition or dysentery here in America? Show me the article that shows America has a child mortality rate of over 25%. Show me where it says American children can be killed because their parents speak out about their leader.

Or are you saying Iraqi children aren’t as important as American children? I might be taking this to the extreme, but showing some good news around here doesn’t necessarily mean you have to agree with the war. Our troops are there… lets do the best we can and PRAISE them for the good job they’re doing. So again…. Deriffe, THANK YOU!

You are right there probably aren't children dying of malnutrition and dysentery here in the US. But can you say that US children are getting the level of education that they should? Do you think every child in the US gets enough to eat everyday?

I didn't say that I was against the war nor that our soldiers aren't doing a good job.

My point was when I read this post I perceived the underlying message to be "We are helping Iraq's children so this war is justified". Now that may not be what Deriffe meant to say but that is how I took it. And I don't think the fact that their are children bad off there justifies our troops being there. If it did then why don't we have troops helping those in Ethiopia?

The purpose of the post is to point out that our troops are doing more than dying. The ONLY thing the media seems interested in is body count. Blood and guts sells ratings and that's all they seem interested in.
